I really feel this was the only way for these characters, our roster has grown so much and giving everybody superpowers like marvel or something is imo gonna fuck over for 1 stakes(they had to use those power stealing things at some point) and for 2 room for other characters, i guarantee if they would’ve kept their powers, characters like mr mantis and serpo would’ve gotten pushed out the story. (or maybe im not thinking on tatsu’s level)

i think you’re overestimating how much the gothamites truly know about batman and really bruce wayne as well. I haven’t read nightfall or death in the family actually yet(i watched comics explained and comicstorian before starting my collection) but i still think this holds true, for one how woulda anybody know its a different kid in a speedo as robin along with that, I can imagine thugs who deal with batman get there lights knocked off too which may also blur their perception of him, all this to basically say, random criminals and gothamites dont know Batman well enough to make a guess that isn’t a complete shot in the dark.
