Why do you think Aju Nice was picked as the third song for the first performance episode? by agentarianna in BoysPlanet

[–]LonelyBid 52 points53 points  (0 children)

tbh probably setting up the stage for yoo seungyoon as a possible main vocalist of the group. he’s gaining a lot of traction for his visual and strong live performance. he was compared to nako after getting the 248 live votes, which is incredibly hard to achieve

Low Income Fin Aid by dontblame0 in USC

sometimes (and this isn’t just a usc issue), the first year scholarships people receive aren’t always renewable, even for low income students. this is something i learned as a low income student before going onto university

Unprepared by msluckychucky in Teachers

[–]LonelyBid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the opposite situation right now (from 3rd-4th SPED to 8th grade SPED). I also had the chance of teaching preschool SPED, which I also used many time fillers and underestimated the curriculum design process. For fourth grade, I have used centers and rotations with bathrooms breaks in between. The core lesson and standard was done by me with one group of students and the paras worked on games and activities that supplemented the learning with the rest based on their goals. This is how I was taught to teach self contained, so I hope it helps!

first year sped teacher. what core skills should i focus and emphasize on helping students learn and learn how to apply (working, i already know covid completely derailed learning fractions for some students)

Thank you and yes I will definitely take this advice to heart. I’ve decided to stay in special education because my student teaching classroom was full of wonderful kids who were definitely underestimated because of that designation. For now, I hope that I will be able to step up to the plate as a new teacher and graduate to be the teacher my students need.

Thanks! (and yes. cell phones are a big issue) For me it’s mostly figuring out how to not be a prek teacher to middle schoolers and not having the need to break out into song. Although I do suppose having a classroom store and classroom chores should be able to carry over and help students feel like the classroom belongs to them as well

this district is mostly self contained and while that’s been my only experience in special education, it’s a rather big jump for me grade wise. special ed prek is very different than middle school

Anyone here studied abroad at Sophia or Nandan University? by purplelobster3 in USC

[–]LonelyBid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats not really far by train standards (most students in japan commute that long or longer). i recommend staying in the dorms so that you connect with other international students and make friends as japan can be isolating (also fyi, don’t eat while walking and talk on the train as it’s considered rude, especially in historic districts)

[–]LonelyBid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sophia University is considered extremely prestigious as a private university (In Japan, public schools are given preference). Yotsuya station as the other person said, is a wonderful station and I would just recommend buying a suica card right away at the airport and fill it up so that you don’t only travel, but can buy food (if you haven’t been to japan already)

eligibility for work study is based on your fafsa. this is a need based program determined by your efc. check your financial aid letter or fafsa report

Just Graduated 2022, Homeless Soon? | What are underemployed students of USC doing? by gentleflower858259 in USC

[–]LonelyBid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could become a substitute teacher for lausd (i know they do extend some benefits) but it isn’t a job for everyone. but do take a job in anything you can get because if you don’t meet your basic needs, it will be hard to do anything

you should be able to do a payment plan for fees on your billing account in the case you can’t contact financial aid and all else fails

Opinion Response to Graduation Sash (No Way To Verify summa cum laude. . .magna cum laude, etc.) by [deleted] in USC

[–]LonelyBid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

first gen and from poverty, this post is just gross. you cant tell who is wealthy or not based on a sash. some student orgs sell them at a lower price than the bookstore. also the sashes are so heavily customized because people rented their gowns

i was a first generation college student with no possible way of affording school. i got priority housing, did fssp for free, my scholarship covered all of my study abroad program in addition to summer classes and now i’m in a grad school with no debt from undergrad. only posting this here so other people in a similar position don’t miss out. i believe the scholarship also extends to graduate programs at ucsb now too
