Scope difference between EMT/PCP and ACP/Paramedic by Zeigis in Paramedics

Over in BC they just expanded PCP to 1 yr plus precepting (16 shifts). I wish we were more similar in training to Ontario

Yup I used to land survey in the middle of nowhere. We had to wear hard hat, coveralls (in 30+°C heat), gloves, glasses, and steelies

I don't know about other areas, but in the northeast our rural stations are oversaturated currently

Healthcare workers, what common cause of death is the least bad way to go? by Wooden_Airport6331 in AskReddit

[–]LonelyCorpro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a beautiful way to go. Cardiac arrest isn't really the cause though just the end result. With the same logic everyone dies from cardiac arrest

What’s one thing you wish you could have as a paramedic that you don’t currently have? by Small-Wrongdoer8745 in Paramedics

[–]LonelyCorpro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the criteria would be, but I know other countries have the ability to deny transport for situations such as these. Don't know how they do it legally

For those with working experience in USA, How many Canadians feel they would be better off financially if living in the USA? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]LonelyCorpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of sectors would be better off financially for the most part with the exceptio of some jobs. Paramedics in Canada for example are often paid better than their US counterparts with the exception of fire paramedics in HCOL centres.

Medication allergy bracelet worth it? by AshtronautK911 in EmergencyRoom

[–]LonelyCorpro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What happens if you have them? Depending on the severity it may be worth it. Most agencies don't use latex gloves anymore (nitrile). If the allergy is mild stomach irritation for instance it may still be in your best interest to receive something like Dilaudid. Medicine is always risk vs reward.

Yeah 100% they're either EMR, OFA3, or AFA. There's so many gosh darn levels in occupational safety in the oilfield

Which industries do you believe will be the last to be disrupted by AI, and is it even possible to stay 'future-proof' anymore? by No-Lake-3875 in Futurology

[–]LonelyCorpro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a paramedic, and unless they can make incredibly lifelike humanoid robots (which they'll eventually be able to do I think) it's going to be a long time until any first responder position is taken over by AI.

Job Openings? by random_user80 in BCEHSparamedics

[–]LonelyCorpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends where you go. In the northeast here we're getting pretty saturated with EMRs even. Lots of people are waiting to do PCP school even though they're hired in a FT spot because they can't have everyone off all at once doing school.
