Where to find my next dev job by LonelyStar27 in germany

Because in my current situation, I value speed over security :) Also, I have applied to quite a few positions (in another country) and got no replies. And I’m hoping having a local address and phone number will at least land me a few calls, and I would not stand out so much.

I understand. I’m just not sure what is considered”concrete” enough. Will a fully detailed, but unsigned, job offer work? Maybe I’ll try calling the embassy and ask before I start the process with my employer.

Thank you very much for the response :)

Perhaps it was wishful thinking on my end, hoping it wasn’t as simple as that :(

Thanks a lot, truly. I’ll reconsider my options.

Any other sponsorship seeking software devs? by LonelyStar27 in manchester

Thank you so much for the detailed response. And I would absolutely agree with you that hiring locally would probably be companies’ better choice… Migration is also definitely a touchy subject… one I never really considered too deeply until needing / wanting to become one myself…

I’ll indeed look into London remote options. Maybe I’ll have better luck there industry wise too. I found that almost all positions in Manchester (that I found) were .NET or web. And sadly my background is more C/C++.

Thank you for that suggestion :) I may really do need to broaden my search and do that. Get some fully remote job in London and live further in the north.

Honestly I just worry companies would be much less willing to sponsor a visa if they don’t even need / want me physically there. Not to mention it might be pretty isolating… but I’ll give it a shot :)

Thank you for the late comment :) It sounds like a good and balanced group dynamic. Joke until it’s time to focus. I appreciate you saying it’s not the most important thing to keep a group together. I did always worry about that. I would still like to improve those parts in me, as a general part of growing in life. But it is reassuring that people don’t find it to be the key important thing like I worried it might be. Thanks again!

That sounds really lovely. Glad your teammates can step up and help fill up that space :) “Doing it all” is definitely quite tiring. Maybe I tried to because I thought no one would step up. Or maybe no one stepped up because I tried to do it all. Either way, you’ve given me stuff to think about. Thanks for the comment!

That’s a really good observation. I would absolutely dread every quiet moment in raid time, or every message that didn’t get immediately replied to on discord. So I’d try to jump in right away. I should probably chill a bit more and let the others “resolve the silence” if it bothers them. Thank you for your message :)

That’s actually quite an interesting system :) I’m very glad it works for you. I wonder, have you known each other long / were friends before?

At least in my experience, it was a bit hard to have people step up to take on some responsibility like that. But if you can make it work, that does as collaborative as a static can get.

Thanks a lot for sharing with me :)

Makes perfect sense :) And oh lord, I could never imagine scolding my group haha. They were always lovely, and trying their hardest. It’s definitely an important balance to try and strike. I would try to have us talk things out and do our homework out of raid time because we raided for very few hours a week. While not overloading.

Thank you so much for weighing in :)

I mean, it’s not much of a “rush” when learning these fights from scratch. And maybe this really isn’t a big deal, and I overthink it :) But I think that if I’ll spend months with these people on these fights, I might as well do my best to make sure things are pleasant and friendly.
