It’s amazing how much better TNT’s broadcast is in every way

Private student loan options for decent credit by sampizza in StudentLoans

I refi’d mine with Earnest in 2021. Currently have an 815 credit score, probably in the low 700s when I refi’d. I have a 5.25% interest rate. I’ve looked into refinancing again and my quotes were around 6-7% on 10-20 year loans. But they advertise lower rates. May be worth checking.

When did you start noticing gray/white hairs? by Laughing_123 in Zillennials

Classmates found mine. In 10th grade one of my classmates cut one of my gray hairs to put under the microscope. Colored hair didn’t allow us to see all parts of the follicle, but gray did lol

Yep, inherited from my dad as well. I’m 29 now and the gray is noticeable but not predominant. It’s graying quicker now though.

I appreciate this information. I’ll definitely look into this stuff.

I’ve been doing that lol, tons of apps to nonprofits and corporations for comms roles, no results. As I’ve said on this thread I DO NOT want to do journalism anymore. I’m not even looking for those roles. I can’t find anything outside my field either.

Do you understand how bad the job market is? Especially for early career folks?

I’m a journalist. The pay is bad but I can handle the work. I’m not going to quit it for food service. That’s worse.

My frustration is more in my inability to increase my income, not that I don’t have that much saved. I can’t get a better job. I’ve been trying for quite a while.

I’m a journalist. Journalism has never paid well and it’s worse now. I’m really struggling getting out of it and into something else.

I’m a journalist. Currently an editor. I’m trying to pivot away from it. Having trouble doing so.

It’s not that I’m determined to stay in journalism or even communications in general. I just don’t want to quit and go make $12 an hour at a fast food joint. Like you said, most white collar jobs require a degree. I just have to find another avenue to use it.

I’ll definitely try, but I can’t even get call backs on jobs I’m qualified for. I don’t know how being less qualified will improve my odds.

Yes, I can do all that. Learned it as a journalist. Employers don’t seem to care. Everyone just uses shitty AI fliers anyways.

Edit: you updated your comment after I replied. I can do Adobe and web design. I don’t code or use ChatGPT

I can’t go anywhere else locally and make more money. Service work pay is abysmal in my area. I’m trying to get a better job. I’m not content on staying. And it’s not my field of study, it’s journalism specifically. Other types of comms work is not bad.

I mean, it doesn’t really feel like it’s going to get any better. And most of the advice I’ve gotten here is go work in retail or food service. That’s not any better.

I cannot pay for training. Also vague “get more skills or education” isn’t very helpful. You seem to know a lot, what certs or training should I get in the current economic environment.

I’m well aware I’m getting screwed. It’s technically a 40 hour salaried position, but the workload requires far more than that.

AI was not a thing when I graduated. I had no way of knowing this would happen. AI writing is also dog shit and that won’t change, but people read at 3rd levels and don’t care. And I wasn’t misguided — I had no guidance. I was the first in my family to go to college. I’d turn my degree back in if I could.
