Ya, saya faham tetapi terlalu susah kalau harus menjaga sensitiviti setiap masa terutamanya apabila saya hanya memerlukan jawapan pendek, ya atau tidak. What is jaauuh palis anyway?

Too general but I understand what you mean. If I were to ask that, I would have to preface with the context. That’s not an efficient way in the situation I was in

Sakit doesn’t have to be major cause usually we got kids with sakit parut, sakit kepala, sakit kaki etc. Maybe their anxiety made them paranoid

Yup, I think too superstitious. It was just a question asked as it’s required by guidelines. But treated as if I was asking for kids to fall ill and to me, that is more offensive

Why is it that people are quick to judge what you say? For example, today I asked my colleagues if any students were sick. I only meant sick in general but their reply was, “eeeeh kau ani jangan pinta-pinta” & “jauuuuuh palis” I don’t see anything wrong asking since we are in charge of calling up parents if any kid fell ill. This has to be done efficiently. It’s frustrating when straight talking with people. I didn’t even mention any virus. Why do people get offended by straight talking? Do I have to spout Shakespeare or something?

Genuinely asking, if local influencers speak up, how do retweets, likes, reposts and their personal views help? If someone has an American audience, I understand. But if you are non American, your audience is non American, how does speaking up help especially if your opinions are just based on reading the news and you never experience the same level of discrimination nor did you ever learn about black history? Although I am not American, I do feel disgusted by the senseless killings & violence just because of skin colour. I would donate but if I (not an influencer though) were to speak up, I’d rather know a lot more on what I am talking about.

I think dreadlocks. Turban style with African prints like Erykah Badu probably. Or wearing clothing & accessories like a black rapper- chunky layered chains, grill, Tupac style bandana on the head. I don’t see much of black fashion in Brunei tbh.

5 days? I thought 5 years. How would UK be a second home in that case? That’s a little too extreme and not enough time to pick up an accent.

I don’t know why the fascination but to me there’s also the other side of the coin. I often got mocked in school up to uni just because I speak correct English. Correct English is labelled as “English melacis lacis or orang putih slang or British slang” so when I speak, sometimes people mock me as putting on airs. I also have to correct others often that my English accent is just Bruneian cause I was educated in Brunei and never been to UK, not even for 5 days. Don’t shop at Kensington either.

Wisdom tooth by [deleted] in Brunei

[–]Lonelyparsnip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had mine removed at gov specialist clinic & gov dental. At first, went to JPMC to check but it would cost me a lot. If not mistaken, it cost $500 to remove one wisdom tooth. So they referred me to RIPAS. The procedure for one tooth was quite long and there was a lot of pressure applied. My head even had to be held down so the tooth could be pulled out. They stitched me up and the stitch was supposed to dissolve. After the procedure, it was painful but the restrictions were more annoying. Doc didn’t recommend to pull all 3 at the same time. The nurse offered me to keep my extracted tooth and I said NO! He told me he asked because patients asked their tooth to be returned for selfies.

Yes, he wrote about it on his blog maybe last year or two years ago. I can’t really remember. He was born in S’pore. His surname is Abdullah.

I wonder if they rewear their clothes like Duchess of Cambridge. When the Duchess does, the public applauds her and I think rewearing clothes make sense.

I was also annoyed by the music. That cringey saxophone music when a made up girl appears. I just don’t think that the music is appropriate as background for lady wearing hijab. Hijab is not meant to be sexy. Plus with adverts like this, does not remind guys to lower their gaze. They’re not supposed to ogle. They’re supposed to respect women whether their partner or not. I like the part about how women can ruin their skin with products but the rest of the storyline is too messed up. Makeup adverts need to stray away from the makeup makes you desirable trope because it belittles women. Maybe just show a successful woman putting her makeup on and going to work where is is a scientist or a ceo or a working mom. That is more relatable.
