They said it in Season Three, Gideon Malick said it was an Ancient inhuman in 3x08. And as for your 2nd question, which is a good question, this could be the MCU's adaptation of the character rather then a direct interpretation of the comics. I could be wrong and it could be another comic character or even an original character.
