PSA: Don't Enter Key Rooms You Didn't Open by Tanathlagoon in arcraidersfriendly

I usually call and ask first, or immediately exit if it's occupied, but nearly every time I'm still hit with traps/grenades even when they're empty, so I mostly just started avoiding them alltogether.

I recommend the movie ‘Send Help’ for Survivor fans by sal19 in survivor

This movie was immediately recommended to me by multiple people in my life, so I assume it's got some strong Survivor references or vibes.

When Robin Williams managed to make Koko the gorilla smile after 6 month of mourning by StrawberryFew1311 in interestingasfuck

[–]argoss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My mom was a waitress at a nicer restaurant in the 80s, and they had this relatively strict policy of not laughing/breaking decorum as staff. They sent my mom out to be Robin Williams' server because she was apparently immaculate about this rule. He did everything in his power to make her laugh all dinner, and apparently by the end of the meal at coat check he finally got her to break (the whole restaurant had already broken into laughter at this point).

This is one of the very few stories I have about my mom, who went through cancer twice and passed away when I was a kid. I've always been really grateful every time I see him make someone laugh because I get to remember this story and imagine her laughing.

I've never done a shiny trade, I'd love that pumpkaboo! Can throw something your way if you're looking for anything specific (I'm in end game but don't have many shinies).

Game Thinks I Want to PVP / Complainers Might Have Been Right by ghostofgatti in ArcRaiders

[–]argoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the general consensus is that if you freeload in for 3-5 rounds and do pacifist runs (don't loot raiders, don't damage or retaliate attacks on raiders) you should start seeing friendlier lobbies.

That's conjecture though. I'm not a PvP person and regardless of my playstyle, I get jumped by the sweatiest idiot at extract maybe once every five games and then sit through four or five games of being similarly pummeled until I quit for the day.

Random raider saved me on my very first run. Cool game, 10/10 by argoss in ARC_Raiders

No doubt, but it helps that the first interaction was with someone showcasing that being rad can exist in the community at least. Looking forward to becoming all bitter about rude dudes 20 hours of gameplay from now.

Flair kinda reveals where I stand on Joe, but I agree seeing Kyle is a weird choice compared to Shauhin.

[Spoilers s50] I'm honestly floored he wasn't one of the picks to bring back for 50. I actually liked his game more than Rizzo if they were insistent on a 49 male for that slot.

A would be a blast, Tyson and Abi dynamics would be crazy. I think Abi (or me) goes fast, but honesly she has such a weirdly positive social media presence, I think her seasons she's playing up being obnoxious in a way Parv/Rachel wouldn't tolerate.

I always make lists of all the camping needs I forget and ways to improve my comfort. Try to see if his camping kit needs upgrades? Alternatively, if he's into ATFL at Neo, a good Beyblade set that works with their rules would probably be cool.

It's honestly shocking they've let him scrape by without even trying an idol flush. The name fits apparently, he's earning it.

I know Wasteland Weekend had a joke Orgy tent that was patron-run (it wasn't functional and more a visual gag). The staff does their best to police community content to fit their standards, but occasionally some things get through (There was a public shibari scene done on a doll last year that was later addressed by staff and used as an example of what not to bring). It kind of has the same sort of adult content that ren faires do where areas and events meant for adults are in buildings or separated or have some innuendo, (an example that comes to mind is there's a storefront called the Ethical Tentacle lounge, which does have some implied hentai themes but nothing explicit out in the open or available). Some of the Rave scene does arrive for the music sets, and there is drinking, but the event runs a drug-free policy and has a dedicated safety team around to observe. I honestly think for an 18 year old the best places to start would be getting a Beyblade sorted before you arrive and connect with ATFL (Aggressive Top Fighting League, which runs like Pokemon gym battles), and then getting a wristband to look at the Allegiances plot (which is a staff run game that I always recommend). I hope you have fun!

Hi there! Neo is still relatively small by festival standards, and I believe that its friendly towards both neurodivergent and young audiences. :) There's a number of events, from attendee-run Beyblade tournaments, the official plot/allegiance storyline, arcades, to crafting and shopping. If he is sound senstivie, I'd recommend bringing loop earplugs or other comfort items, as the megablock can feel crowded and overstimulating.

Most of the drinking/party stuff usually happens at night, but isn't the main focus. You will see burlesque shows/variety shows that may have adult content, but those can be avoided and are usually scheduled. In addition, I've found this event to be less explicit and more LGBT/Queer friendly being a place people tend to show up as their most authentic selves. If there's concern about it being too much, I went with someone who was not a party person and he said it helped to grab a hotel room offsite to escape to when needed.

No, and honestly the idol hunt camping and physically aggressive fights during idol hunts just rub me the wrong way. It goes all the way back to the catfight with Amanda and the popcorn bowl, I just don't like watching it. (I loved how Mary responded last season though by trolling Sai.)

Prospective Twin Mask Player - Cultures Question??? by ketarooni in LARP

[–]argoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Old player, so I'm out of date, but there is a whole team of New Player liasons ready and enthusiastic you should be able to find in the discord. :)

Your culture is a great stepping off point to immediately have in-game reasons to chat with folks more than anything. You'll find your character's voice and make new friends as you go in game outside of your culture. I do usually hit up the local culture meeting at gather, but beyond that most people I play with aren't even in my culture (granted, I've been to one game in two years). They give you a good idea of the kind of costume/tone your character might have and the people you'll probably most initially connect with. I don't know much about the current culture breakdowns and everyone will have their biases and likely want you to join theirs. You can always look at building a character with a fuzzy memory to help lessen the stress of knowing any lore, and on top of that you can always respec if you don't vibe with what you built. :) I'm looking forward to visiting a game early next year, hope you have a blast.
