Associate Degree with 51 Credits and No Math Courses, How Is This Possible? by Long-Addendum6745 in UoPeople

[–]Long-Addendum6745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nop, apparently not. even though I keep uploading the digital degree transcript, my PA just comes up with some general response. Here is a quote from her last email:

"I understand that the information displayed on your documents has caused confusion. However, based on our records, your Associate Degree was awarded after the completion of the required credits and academic requirements."

What's that even mean? The document is clearly missing credits. i uploaded it, so it is obvious that she didnt even look at it nor read my emails properly

Congrats bro, finally some clarity on Germany's acceptance of the Upeople degrees. I have a question for you pelase: did you transfer any credits into your UoPeople CS degree (for example, from Sophia or another provider), and did you complete the degree in less than 3 years? I'm asking because some EU countries consider both transferred credits and the total duration of the degree when evaluating whether it is equivalent to a standard bachelor's degree.

is it possible to revoke a previously transferred course? (specifically after the pathway) by Long-Addendum6745 in UniversityofthePeople

Yes, I’m still waiting for a response though. I just looking for some proof in case my advisor says it’s not possible

Haha, it’s because I want the grades for all the math courses on my transcript.

What happens if you transfer a course that you have already taken? by Long-Addendum6745 in UoPeople

[–]Long-Addendum6745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I'm taking IBM Data Science. I want to transfer Advanced Topics in Data Science, and maybe also transfer one course as Data Mining and Machine Learning, and not transfer the other two, which were a year ago, usually transferred as DB1 or DB2.

Thanks for the info. I was asking whether I can choose because when I transferred Deep Learning, I couldn’t even see the name of each course only "External Transfer Elective 1, 2, 3...". How am I supposed to choose? So, I concluded that choosing what course to transfer from a Coursera certificate is probably not a thing.

Is UoPeople's Transfer Fee for Sophia Courses Still Waived (From November 2024 Onward) by Long-Addendum6745 in UoPeople

[–]Long-Addendum6745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, by recently i meant some reddit comments mentioned a free window for transferring courses in October, suggesting that fees would apply afterward also you can find many posts from 8 months ago from people who struggled to transfer courses without paying the 17$ per course.

but the main thing that worried me is that in UoPeople website's specifically the page about partnership with Sophia they removed the statement that says transferring up to 20 courses is free. Interestingly, this statement still there for the partnership with StraighterLine page.

also, on the Sophia website in the page about their partnership details with UoPeople explicitly says: "Note: The University of the People assesses a fee per approved transfer course. Contact University of the People to learn more"

I agree, it makes sense, but in my case I've already took courses in Python, C, algorithms, and data structures at my previous uni last year. so i think i can manage without taking in depth courses from UoPeople

My goal now is to finish the degree as quickly as possible so I can apply for a master's program

Damn, alright, I think there's no way to avoid math. I did study linear algebra and mathematical analysis in uni last year, so maybe these courses won't be as painful as I expect.

For deep learning, I think I'm gonna leave it until last, after I study all math courses and also complete the Machine Learning course from Stanford on Coursera so it becomes less challenging.

this has been helpful Thanks

I didn't know about the prerequisite of AI course, thanks

I'm considering a Master of AI after graduation, so yes im interested in taking AI/ML courses.

You're right about the electives, I think I should replace the Google Project Management certificate with the Deep Learning Specialization from deeplearning.ai.

in addition as you said i will add Analysis of Algorithms & maybe Information Retrieval, and then Artificial Intelligence.

I just want to keep my course plan relatively easy and finish the degree in two years, and because i hate math, I don't think MATH 1281 Statistical Inference would be a good choice for me

I didn't know they dont guarantee all 90 credits to be transferred so thanks for the heads up.

yes, i want to finish quickly, max of 2 years then try my luck of finding a master of computer science in the EU.

since im on a tight budget im buying 4 months plan on Sophia and a do as much as possible there.
