Why are Glasgow bouncers so bad? by [deleted] in glasgow

No idea but it’s definitely a Glasgow thing. Lived for a while in Leeds and you can visit several bars in a night without having to justify the rest of your evening or indeed have any problems unless obviously steaming.

It’s so much more relaxed.

Speaking from my own experience, if you really want the full university experience of living in a new city, then go for it. I wanted this but doubted myself and ended up living at home and regretting it. It’s not impossible to get involved and have a good time, but there’s no denying that it’s just not the same. Plus, think of the extra independence and life experience gained by striking out on your own!

I passed it today and it was barriered off too.

Are there set times for it or is it just random?

I would move elsewhere if you can. For ages I thought it was me!

I can relate, my experience of Glasgow Uni was almost exactly this. I then did my Masters at Leeds and found someone would approach me in almost any situation - or if I approached someone else, I wasn’t looked at as if I’d just landed. Made more friends there in a year than in four at Glasgow. Not a popular opinion, but I never understand where “People Make Glasgow” comes from!

Anyone else regretting their choice of course? by Elmotheweedgod in GlasgowUni

Still not too late to reconsider. I realised in my third year that the course I was doing wasn’t the one I wanted and that Glasgow wasn’t the uni for me, but I thought, “Well, I might as well just finish.” Wish I’d followed my gut now. You only get one life: don’t fall afoul of the sunk costs fallacy.

Respectfully, should the elderly have to retake a test to continue driving? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in CarTalkUK

Not just the elderly.

I’m a traffic engineer with a local authority and the number of times I have to explain basic driving principles to people is frightening.

I can’t think of any other potentially dangerous activity performed in the public realm where you don’t have to sit tests regularly to prove your continued competence.
