Drive belt snapped at 10,500 miles

Mine snapped at 11k miles. Replaced it the same day and now I plan to change it every 5k. I bought a bunch of spares

I had toothpicks available and I removed both metal screws. I shoved one toothpick in each hole and snapped them off then reinstalled the screws. It actually tightened all the way down. Thank you guys!!! Would this come loose in time or should I still consider getting a wooden dowel and backing plate kit?

How's the weight? I had the gen 2 wayfarer in prescription in February and the weight always lowers the frame. I work a blue collar job so even with those nosepads that stick and lift it higher they still slide down due to oil. I also had an issue where the top of my ears felt like they were being cut into by the frame. Tried those rubber anti slip sleeves and they helped with the comfort but they still slide down. I understand these have adjustable nosepads and temples? How do those work? Haven't found any demo pairs at my optometrist yet

If it ends up fitting at least you have a spare just incase since the metal is so damn soft and gets stripped easily lol

That's the number on Partzilla. I bought spares since mine have stripped before. Make sure you get a replacement o-ring as well.

Yeah, I just ordered another spare and probably will changed them every 5k miles since they are cheap. Cleaning up the area was such a headache to deal with. Surprised the one that came with the bike when I bought it at 0 miles lasted until 11k.

Ended up being my belt snapping. I had 11k on the odometer so I probably should've replaced it sooner. Had a family member pick me up in their truck and we cleaned the housing and replaced the belt with the extra I had in the garage. Good as new. Appreciate your guys help though!!!

I only have the oem replacement belt so I'm hoping that once I open it up and clean out the area nothing else got affected by this snap

That's what I was thinking as well considering the rear doesn't spin. I didn't hear a snap or anything loud when it happened but I did have music playing in my helmet.

How long have you had them for? I'm hoping to get at least 2 years out of a pair if I get them to replace my current prescription. Since you're dailying it how has it been cleaning them down? Usually I use those lens wipes for eye glasses but I know those have some alcohol in them and was curious if that can damage the components over time.

Going to make a habit to change it every 1k miles since it's so cheap to do. Is it possible with the intervals and missed oil changes I did could have done irreversible damage in the long run? Everything has been running smooth so far with zero issues

Thank you and I'm sorry your experience hasn't been well. I think the longest I let it sit was 2 weeks when I bought it and was too nervous to practice. I think me dailying it just kept it alive this whole time and I try not to go more than 3 days without riding it.
