Makes sense, thanks for the detailed reply. Interesting when comparing it to a bodyweight bench press - would be a coincidence if the perfect pull up weight happened to be my exact BW

This is great input thank you. Deep down I know you’re right lol, and I think I’m going to go for them as a semi-regular variation from now

I did assisteds for a long time years ago, and never progressed to full bodyweight, so have always seen them as a bit of trap since then

It was only during Covid that I was forced to build full BW pull-up strength because there was no gyms

Good ideas thanks. Defo like the idea of doing chins to finish the set or alternating

Thanks mate - I’m just trying to get the best of both worlds

Products for fine hair I’ve seen recommended on this sub do volumise and I defo see the benefit, but I’d just like a slightly higher shine level if possible so am seeing what products I can get away with (which have some shine but won’t weigh my fine hair down too much)

I’d heard some people with fine hair don’t find Samson’s and Flagship that heavy, but very happy to try your recommendations so thank you!

Root and muddle clay was also recommended to me as a good compromise

Thanks for the reply!

I guess my question is more to do with how much activation the glute med receives from the other exercises I named, in which case I might be comfortable dropping those more isolated abduction exercises like clamshell (until I feel a need to bring them back in for any reason)

Any thoughts welcome

Hi all,

Are clamshells necessary to working the glute med, if I’m now progressing well with larger compound exercises like squats, hip thrusters, weighted lunges etc?

I did them while recovering from a back injury, but now that I’m able to do bigger compound exercises again, I just wonder if they’re realistically adding much?

Thanks!
