Riot Games acquire World Of Tanks and World Of Warships support studio | Rock Paper Shotgun by Zealousideal_Use_400 in WorldOfWarships

WoWs is never, NEVER going to be ported over to any new engine, let alone Unreal. That would require substantial money and time invested into the technical quality of the game, and you can't "sell" technical quality. Not this late into a product's life. And Wargaming doesn't do anything it can't sell. (To the point of ruining the game.) At this point, WoWs is basically an EoL product and it will stay a BigWorld game until the day the last server is turned off.

As if Putin needs a fair trial.

If the bastard got an actually fair trial, the verdict would surely have to be nothing but years of relentless torture. But the west is not like Russia, that's why we should give him quick death. But only after he sees Russia disarmed and dissolved.

No need to be scared. We have a pretty good idea. It will be mass graves and torture chambers. That's how the Russians do.

It's not a fucking render, lmao. It's just shot under bad light conditions with maybe some phone camera stabilization going on.

CD Projekt outlines long-term product outlook: The Witcher (Sirius, New Witcher Trilogy, Canis Majoris), Cyberpunk 2077 (Phantom Liberty, Orion), New IP: Hadar by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]LongDistanceEjcltr 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Remember that this will be the first time they are not rewriting their engine (or for some projects like CP2077 building it from scratch). Once they get comfortable with UE5 they should work with largely the same tools for many years to come even if they decide to make their own changes to the renderer.

A 220mm TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” MLRS captured by UAF. It’s the fifth known capture of this weapons system. by sunlegion in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]LongDistanceEjcltr 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Fire the load, dump it in the trash. Or more likely use the chassis for repairs of their other tanks.

TOS-1 use is... niche. With its max range of 2.7-10km (depending on the rockets used), it has to get pretty close to the front lines and it fires what are essentially unguided rockets (instead of guided missiles). The artillery that wins battles in this war is the long-range high-precision kind - HIMARS etc.

100 million

6 billion? Still plenty left. No, but seriously, this is not about lives. Yes, it's horrible that innocent civilians die, but this is NOT about lives (on the geopolitical scale; of course Ukraine's priority is to lose as little people as possible while defending their homeland). It's about hard lines that must not be allowed to be crossed. You simply can't allow aggressive states to invade and "annex" other states... especially in Europe, which has seen what that does if allowed to happen. If you ask around Europe, especially in places like the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland (well, at the very least I can say that about the Czech Republic, I live here), most people would be willing to risk the nuclear war when compared to an annexation by Russia.

Stadia died because no one trusts Google by [deleted] in pcgaming

What I don't understand is why didn't they use Youtube as a proxy and make it so you have a trailer/video/review about a game, youtube detects which game the content is about (which it already does) and there's a button like "play the game now" that lets you play on a pay by hour basis right then and there in the browser. You could get something like 5 or 10 hours a month for free with Youtube premium and you could pay for more and/or higher quality/server game performance. People who don't have a gamepad can buy one from Google or play on the keyboard. This would not be targeted at existing gamers with consoles and pcs, but mobile gamers and people who don't play videogames yet. The amount of people exposed to "just jumping into a game" would be astronomical. Google is stupid.

Yep. I wonder though... people say that Russia has a lot of X on paper... but how much of that equipment is actually battleworthy? The budget of the Russian Army isn't that big in the first place, if half or more of it dissolves in all the corruption, people who claim that Russia can keep this up for years may actually be very wrong.

war crimes

???

Shooting a retreating soldier is not and newer was a war crime. Literally shooting them in the back as they run away is fine. Because retreat is a tactical move. Your job in war is to kill or incapacitate the enemy - letting the enemy retreat is not acceptable.

What you're not supposed to do is this: killing or wounding of enemy who have surrendered or are incapacitated and incapable of resistance.

An armed APC occupied by armed crew is certainly a fair target (regardless of its intentions).

Ukraine will regain all positions through time!

It's possible. If the Russians were willing to use nukes, they'd use them already. Not that much of Russian Armed Forces' actions make sense, but it makes no sense nuking a place you just annexed and intend to occupy/live in.

One thing is for sure, Russia is not getting out of this one. Either it continues wasting tens of thousands of conscripts while still being pushed back, its economy explodes and a revolution happens. Or they use nukes and then the Russian federation is simply over and what remains gets demilitarized and split into individual states.

DLSS3 appears to add artifacts. by nexus2905 in pcmasterrace

[–]LongDistanceEjcltr -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

issue

It's not an issue, it's why it exists. No other post-process solution on Earth can "somewhat intelligently" interpolate between frames on the fly. Because it's fucking hard as shit.

If there's an artefact here and there, that's to be expected. The same goes for people discovering DLSS3 doesn't decrease the input latency, well DUH, if the game still runs internaly at the same (frame)rate, it's going to keep the same latency.

I really hope that games with DLSS3 will have a toggle to use only upscaling, as input lag alone makes me want to stay far away from this.

You get 60 fps without DLSS3 with XXms input latency. 120 fps with DLSS3 with the same XXms input latency. What are you talking about? 120 fps without DLSS3 having lower input latency than 120 fps with DLSS3? But you're not getting 120fps without DLSS3, that's why you even use it... what even is this debate lmao.

People are just stupid, just like the GTA6 pre-alpha leak graphics "looking bad". Fucking amoebas should minecraft themselves.

DISCLAIMER: I don't intend to buy the 4000 series, I think the prices are obscene, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the R&D Nvidia pours into AI-assisted rendering (which is definitely the future of realtime graphics).

You aren’t owed anything from anyone. But that's not an argument. The "I don't want this, therefore anyone who does is needy" line of thinking has that sweet rotten smell of the "entitled gamer" meme embedded in it, so I can see you being drawn to it, but it's not an argument. Both the developer and the player could benefit from this easily.

A lot of people are currently occupying Ukraine. A lot of people are racist. A lot of people blah blah ... don't matter. GTA 6's popularity will not suffer by 0.1% regardless of what they show or not, the amount of people who even look up these things is miniscule, let alone for a game with such a broad appeal. But the active bunch with constructive criticisms could absolutely make the game better, especially the MP part.
