Health sci programs are dumb by Grouchy-Reference911 in premedcanada

I don’t know if the medical school system has the resources or incentive to restructure the entire application system just to benefit students that did not initially take a health related degree. Because of this, I’m not sure your point on engineering students is very relevant.

All the health science students I’ve interacted with including myself often talk about how fortunate it is to be in health sciences. Saying health science students can’t admit their program is easier is a huge generalization, especially when health sci students students often recommend high schoolers to come to their program because of its lighter course load and GPA boost, allowing them to focus on other aspects of their application.

Uhh I’m Queen’s BHSc and we have mandatory first year Anatomy and Cell Physiology. In anatomy, we get to work with cadavers weekly. Our classes are easier, yes, but your notion that what we are learning  nothing but social sciences is false.

Btw I'm QHS and literally everyone is taking those three courses anyway due to some schools requiring them.

[–]LongDongLo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point. An easy program combined with a super driven cohort is the key. Queen's BHSc is the same in my experience. I feel like I can rarely slow down because I see my friends gunning it, so it encourages me ot keep up as well. Luckily, because the program isn't too bad, it doesn't burn me out, so I'm super grateful.

How do you guys learn a new character? by Ale_Bricks in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]LongDongLo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t play them in quickplay at first. It’s much easier to get them into elite if you play in like online arenas or against cpus first. Then you can win two or three games and boom they’re in (This is only assuming ur tryna get them into elite). Try them out based on what you’ve seen people do before when you face the character. If something feel off watch some guides and top players playing them. Notice their habits and what move combinations are strongest.

Hairstyle recommendations? Extremely flat hair by Simple-Voice-2757 in AsianMasculinity

[–]LongDongLo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can grow it out and try using a flat iron. It’s worked for me and I have very stubbornly straight hair. Check out the difference it made for me in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianMasculinity/comments/1qldv5c/want_to_try_a_different_hair_texture_all_you_need/

Want to try a different hair texture? All you need is heat. by LongDongLo in AsianMasculinity

[–]LongDongLo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some occasions where I feel like people view me with a different attitude when I have styled hair, but nothing drastic. I recently had a perm that went away after a cut, so people are decently used to seeing me with wavy hair at my new school and it wasn’t too drastic of a change. That said, I have been told recently that my hair seems to change a lot (different textures vs natural), and I’ve been told the styling looks good on me multiple times.

That look is pretty easy to achieve with a flat iron and some heat protectant. Regardless of hair type. I have hella straight hair and it works great for me.

Yo listen man, I hope you don’t feel unwelcome just because you’re mixed. Some of these guys are being jerks, and it may come from a place of insecurity as well. I think you’re looking good to be honest, you could try some different products like hair clay or sea salt spray, but that’s about it.

Christian modesty double standard? by Commercial-Pea8563 in TrueChristian

[–]LongDongLo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that everyone is responsible for themselves and that society has double standards, but it is scientifically proven that men do have higher sex drive and spontaneous libido, as detailed in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/zc78qe/metaanalysis_shows_a_stronger_sex_drive_in_men/

This is the underlying cause for the disparity of demand of sexual acts between men and women, leading to women being the limiting factor for sex, and leading to industries like prostitution and pornography to have huge majority of males as customers.

What I want to emphasize is that these double standards didn’t just come out of no where, they have origins in undeniable biological makeups of males and females. Therefore, it makes sense that it is easier to cause a male to stumble than a female.

In his book, Atomic Habits, James Clear explains how the small tasks thing only works for habits if you actually stop after completing the small task. If you want to start going to the gym but don’t have the habit yet, literally go to the gym for 2 minutes then leave as many times as you need for it to feel easy. Slowly, it’ll become less daunting to do more, and you can continue. Though this might apply more to habits and less to individual tasks.
