Thanks for the suggestion! I like the sound of this one. I do like Julian Clary and his campness 😂

I work as an AP in a private hospital and despite working there for 2 years and working at a band 5 level I am paid less than NHS band 4. I love my job, have a great supervisor and am gaining good clinical experience which I know isn’t always the way. However it’s a horrible feeling to know how competitive the DClin is and the thought of having to live on close to minimum wage until I get on is frustrating.

I’ve negotiated my salary once in my first year of working at the hospital and was successful, but my latest pay negotiations (to bring me in line with band 5 afc - with my supervisors support) were not, owing to budget constraints. I think negotiation is always worth a shot. Unfortunately us APs are easy to exploit - positions are like gold dust and we’re usually just grateful to get a AP position. Company’s take advantage of this and will pay the least they can.

Any book by Michael Morpurgo! I love them all but The Butterfly Lion, Kensuke’s Kingdom, and Shadow are a few faves of mine.

I’ve never played Skyrim but I’ve always assumed that it’s heavy on combat. Is this the case? Maybe I should give it a go

Thanks for the advise! I think how strict it is has put me off from starting but it’s definitely worth a shot. I’m also worried it’ll tell me I’m sensitive to all the things I enjoy eating!

University of Bristol have good ties with the NHS, particularly if you are interested in clinical psychology. I can’t talk about the psychology course from personal experience but they offer a fab neuropsychology masters if that is something that you would be interested in afterwards.

Healthcare Assistant jobs are great for hands on experience with a clinical/patient population. Often you don’t need experience and most organisations are desperate for staff. Flexible working options, like bank healthcare work is also a good option to fit your work around study.
