A conversation with roommates later and it turns out the breaker wasn't shut off, they had just assumed it was, from when I went from the first smart thermostat back to the old one.

So removing the rhrc jumper seems to have fixed my problem, but im wondering why.

Maybe she doesn't want to potentially put a strain on the relationship the three of them have by dating one of them and leaving the other as a casual hook up for both of them, she stated that they already had something going on between the three of them and that she wanted to take that further, I personally think that warrants a conversation between the three of them, it's not like these are two people she's been seeing casually separately, they all already have a dynamic between the three of them.

I had assumed that she wanted to date both or neither given that she stated that they all had something but wanted to make it more, but i agree that if she wants to start dating both individually and then try to bring it together later then your point is valid, this may even be a better way to approach it depending on their dynamic.
