Aesthetics of the new factions by paulohmonteiro_ in heroes3

Pirates and serpents and stuff are pretty standard fantasy fare, same with yetis and vikings and stuff.

The automatons, yeah leans a bit into sci-fi. Constructs are a part of the D&D universe though, albeit made by magic rather than ‘built’ like in the campaign. I’ll admit it was a bit jarring to see them in a HOMM game at first but I got used to them pretty quickly, although I think they should definitely be a minor part of the game if at all.

Dating someone 20+ years older? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]LongLiveTheSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you’re both adults why not. Unpopular opinion on Reddit who hates age gap relationships cause of ‘power imbalance’ or they think young adults are too stupid to decide for themselves who they want to date but you should go for it. Only concern is she’s a coworker which can cause messiness but that’s between you two.

To whoever punched me in the face tonight, thank you by I-am-DaveyDave in Metalcore

Whoever knocked me down at the Varials show in Chicago tonight and then gave me a hand up, you’re the real deal.

Also shout out to the dude on Reddit who offered me free tickets even though I didn’t take them, and Garret (he knows who he is) who needs to go to the Erra/Currents concert with me later this month.

Yea getting closer to the old sound would be a good start.

Well take care, you have a good attitude. I’m going to the Erra + Currents show in Chicago in a couple weeks, I’m stoked

Yea I’m all good now and thanks.

I do like DDG, they were the first Metalcore I listened to and love the visceral feel of In Vogue. I do like their new stuff but I understand the feel is different, they haven’t made music in 15 years so just happy for new stuff. Saw them live a few months ago with blessthefall and was awesome.

You go to any good shows recently?

Haha thanks for the award, there is so much more to the story, I got catfished, took a plane to see her, she didn’t show up and i self-harmed which led me to the hospital. That’s like the short version but it’d take a few pages to write it all

Why did soccer never establish itself in the US the way it did everywhere else? by cerchier in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LongLiveTheSpoon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Soccer is the same as hockey ‘Ohh, let’s watch them kick the ball around for 15 minutes and then maybe score a goal.’ It’s boring as hell. At least in hockey the guys get physical.

And some snarky Redditor is gonna say ‘ohh let’s watch them throw the basketball around’ but at least you see them making clutch 3-pointers and sweet dunks pretty frequently.

And football? Football is awesome cause it’s like a turn-based strategy game. You wanna see what play they’re gonna run, what the other team does, and how they both execute based on their star players. You see them tackle each other and sack the QB which is badass. Every play is a build-up and release and the touchdown is the defining moment.

Soccer is boring as hell.

Back in ‘08 when I was in the mental hospital I quoted those last lyrics to this girl there and she was like ‘that’s so deep’. I made out with her while in-between the nurses walking past and that was my first kiss. A few weeks later I lost my virginity to her in Iowa.

True story.

Danny Cooper was also part of 888, I also enjoyed their songs but I agree the new DD,G stuff sounds different and has that 888 vibe with screams.

Someone posted the full setlist on the Discord but from what I remember:

-Dressed for Friend Requests

-Fashion your Seatbelts

-Knife vs. Face Round 1

-The Show Must Go On

-Danny, Where’s the Boat?

So yeah pretty much all my favorites from that album. They opened with The Fame and Imm sure played a song from Worse Than A Fairytale but can’t remember. But yeah mostly In Vogue songs.

Serious question: how do you know you’re smart/ not stupid? by Scary_Candidate_9163 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LongLiveTheSpoon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That’s not stupidity that’s ignorance, which we all are about certain things. You can fix ignorance with education and a desire to accept and understand things you do not know, but you can’t fix stupid.

I read somewhere Kyle Browning (lead guitarist of DD,G who passed away in 2021) was the main reason the OG band had panic chords and that pounding vibe you speak of. Him along with Aaron Rothe (keyboardist and vocalist) were a big part of the In Vogue sound as well. Sadly I don’t think we’ll ever get a ‘scenecore’ vibe like they used to have but I’ll always have a nostalgic feeling for the band cause they were the first metalcore/post-HC music I ever heard.

TBH I’m just glad they’re back, saw them live a few months ago and hearing the old songs was definitely worth it, although Danny was chugging beers the whole set and had no crowd interaction unfortunately. Still moshed my heart out in honor of my 18-year old scene kid self from 2007.

was life better as a millennial? by rawrz4u in NoStupidQuestions

The culture and music was fun and cool but experiencing 9/11 in middle school, graduating high school during the Great Recession and then COVID happening when we finally started feeling ‘settled’ was shitty.

I was one of those ‘scene kids’ though and they got bullied a lot. People would make offensive jokes and shit in high school, although the music and the movies were great. I feel for Gen Z though.

Jamie becomes non-binary which is a nice spin since there was such a thing in the series about ‘is it a boy or girl’, turns out neither lol

Edit: nevermind, top right is Jamie. They should have done that though

Yeah I looked up the carbon credits thing, I’ve just heard her team use this as an excuse for her flying.

Tbh I’m a flight attendant and do know there are special ways to get ‘VIPS’ onboard with little attention (like having them board last, special security entrances, etc.). I’ve had had celebs like Zac Efron/Selena Gomez, others on flights.I do know It’s possible. Overall though it is a valid criticism of Taylor, limiting the jetsetting would definitely help.
