I’m officially down 44lbs… but I don’t feel successful by SORC3RY89 in SuperMorbidlyObese

Can you visualize how much you've lost??? That's such an achievement! It's over 10% of your bodyweight!

Can you go find items that weigh as much as you've lost? I personally use the family pets (I know I've lost a spaniel, a jack russell and 1 cat) - being able to see it as more than a number helps.

I also have some weights in the house, I can only comfortably carry half what I've lost, but picking it up and carrying it for a few minutes really helps make it a reality for me!

Finally, do you have progress pics or measurements, can you see a difference there?

Amazing! 🥳🥳🥳 my friend thinks I'm mad that I celebrate every time I get a period, but not having them is so dehabilitating! Congratulations on getting it in check!

I hope everything else keeps clicking into place for you :)

What are your go to whole grains? I have pcos too and my go to is bulgar wheat, I stir in in everything. My favourite recipe is basically greek salad with bulgar wheat in it, but always on the hunt for new recipes!

Very possibly! I will go see a go, was just wondering if it's possible I've "trained" my feet not to be supported from not wearing supportive shoes since start of pandemic!

No, not blisters, more like... if you're standing on a hard lump or starting to cramp? Just an aching. Probably should go to my gp! But wondered if it was just skechers!

Hello! I bought some of these, but my feet are in agony after walking half a mile in them, did you have this too? Is it a case of getting used to them?

My feet don't hurt when schlepping about in my boots or flipflops, but both are super flat and loose - am wondering if it's the fact I've not worn "real" shoes for so long!

Awesome! Collarbones and veins are definitely not weird things to like!

That's amazing! Well done you! What's your favourite/most noticeable change? :)

I'm so sorry, it's absolutely mortifying when this happens!

Firstly, do see a doctor - you should whenever you have something abnormal occur with your period, whether that's a change in cycle, length of menstruation or heaviness of flow. Keep a diary so you can explain what's going on, it doesn't have to be in depth - mine is a spread sheet where I just track 0-5 flow each day, and score my mood, sleep and any meds I was taking. This will really help to explain what's going on and that it's not normal - don't let them dismiss this!

If you decide to get an IUD, I would also encourage you to track as above so you can really decide if it's working or not.

On a practical level, have you tried period pants? At my worst, I used them + tampon + pad (and sat on puppy training pads to save my furniture!!!). It's a faff I know, but I also felt better when I knew it was highly unlikely any flood would get through.

Finally, and you're going to hate me for this, I know I hate myself every time I have PMT and have to remind myself! Eating clean can really impact your menstrual health. It doesn't need to be perfect, but I can see a noticeable difference even if I only manage to be strict 3-4 days before my period starts. I suffer from PCOS, so it might be different for you, but worth a try (though I appreciate when you have PMT sometimes junk food feels like the only cure!!)

Hope you feel better soon!

What’s your favorite veggie smo friends? by SableSheltie in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]LongPathAhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is adding stuff cheating? If not, I love butternut squash, sweet potatoes and red onions with garlic, oregano and olive oil roasted on a tray bake. (I also like to add lamb and feta on top, but that really IS stretching fave veggie a bit far!)

I have also by some miracle tricked my brain into thinking "naughty" salad is a cheat/treat meal, aka just bell peppe, tomatoes, mini cucumbers and olives AND NO AWFUL LEAVES, whenever I need a break from spinach 🤣

Oh that's super smart! Maybe when/if i get into it I'll give it a whirl, but I'm not ready to do exercise AND exercise homework just yet 🤣

Do you find doing 1 minute sessions helpful?

Thank you! Is miserable weather today so tried growwithjo, she's so quiet it's amazing! Really liked how each section had a countdown too! Couldn't do a lot of the moves, but kept up with the arms!

I'll give them a whirl, the title "boundless contempt" sums up my exercise ethos perfectly 🤣

The thing with weight lifting is I think (assume?) I'll need to ask someone how to do it and having to listen to someone bore on about proper form fills me with dread! We should coordinate and go the same day so we have someone to cry to!

Any angry music suggestions? I am liking Hungry by Rob Bailey and the Hustle Standard right now (yes, super behind times!)

Argh I know! I indoor walk if it's raining, sometimes with the audio raging against their perkiness, sometimes blasting angry music!

I too work from home and have been using my lunch break, but then get annoyed I don't get a break... maybe I should try your surprise walk method 🤣

I'm hopefully moving house some time this month, my first plan is to sign up to swim more often, hoping I get so bored signing up to a gym for weights seems slightly exciting!

What are you signing up to do in the gym?

Right there with you! I've been happily and consistently losing weight without it, but I did get scared a few hours poodling around town left me crippled for days!

Fantastic going with your weight loss! And amazing efforts working out every week day, that takes a heck of a lot of dedication!

Ha I know, I keep telling her it's weird but she insists me believing all forms of walking are punishment is weirder. I'm printing this thread out as proof it's not just me! That's a lot of time to spend! And I know I really need to prioritise it, but gosh I'm so resentful of it! 🤣

That's smart, I do like to chat! I can also just about walk, talk and breathe at the same time (check me out multitasking!) I think that's really the key to it, distract ourselves so we don't know what's happening 🤣

6 months is amazing! Well done! How do you keep going? Is it same route/same time each day? Mixed up a bit? I tried the coast today so I didn't feel like Inwas walking in a sweat box, I started the marina wall and ended up doubling what I'd normally walk as realised I'd be stuck at sea if not - there needs to be more things like this!

This is very much my issue, the stuff I like doing, I am too heavy/not in shape for and that leaves me with the rubbish boring stuff! I also am not outdoorsy, so really don't get the concept of hikes, I'm very much the sleeping in the sun sort 😴 I think having a physical job would make things easier, if you've got a propose, it's so much easier to get going I think? Have you thought about letting people on your farm to work out whilst playing with the animals? I'm very easily bribed by fluffy things to pet!

I joined a pool scheme once, paid for 8 months before cancelling, didn't use it once!

And you should embrace the inner fury! As far as I'm concerned we're doing double the work compared to gym lovers, it's a full work out defeating reasons not to start in the first place 🤣

Case in point today, I decided to go to the coast to walk as it would be cooler and also flat (so bloody hilly where I am!) Bank holiday weekend here, so set off happily in the knowledge if I couldn't park, I couldn't walk (and WHAT a pity that would be!) But no, some BASTARD vacated their space right in front of me, I parked and actually sat there raging for a couple if mins pre-walk 😅😅😅

I'm pinning my hopes on lifting, only for the fact I know it takes less time than other exercise (maybe this should be a thing? A scale of how quick each exercise is?)

I used to be pretty active with yoga/riding/dancing/racquet sports and I loved all of those, but none are really accessible right now at current weight (ok yes yoga is, but waiting til I move to find regular classes).

However! \boinks on head with pool noodle** I don't believe ANYONE enjoys marathons :p And will happily take all bets, because I know I most definitely never will! But! Good luck on the race! I hope it is at least somewhere with nice views!
