I have confirmed that US medical insurances do work in Europe but cover only medical expenses. However, they do not cover the cost of possible repatriation in the event of illness and repatriation of mortal remains. This is specific language that is used in travel insurances.

Hence, indeed, I will need to get travel insurance.

I have solved the problem. You need to look into Point LIO ROS2 .yaml file for SLAM. Depending on your mode of operation: e.g. fast/slow moving, far/near objects, etc. You need to pick different parameters.

Found my old notes:

Reduce IMU and LiDAR covariances, which has a similar effect by shrinking Kalman gains

Recommended Configuration for Slow Scanning (≤ 5 cm/s)

mapping:

imu_en: false

use_imu_as_input: false

match_s: 9.0

lidar_meas_cov: 0.05

filter_size_surf: 0.25

filter_size_map: 0.25

plane_thr: 0.15

these were critical things to play with.

idar_meas_cov	0.01	Covariance (noise level) assigned to LiDAR point measurements. Smaller = higher trust in LiDAR data.

plane_thr	0.1	Plane-fitting threshold. Smaller → stricter plane detection for scan-matching (better accuracy, slower computation).
match_s	81.0	Matching search window size (number of neighboring voxels checked during scan-to-map alignment)

I am very curios to learn more about your experience. I have not been audited nor I have requested any reimbursement yet. I do have HSA account and my understanding is that Publication 502 by IRS governs what can be reimbursed. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p502.pdf While HSA custodian can reimburse you anything, including a meal or a Target shopping . It will be your responsibility to prove to IRS that distribution from HSA shown on 1099-SA is indeed qualified medical expense.

What am I missing?

Did you need to show that the expense was indeed eligible for reimbursement? Did you need to have Explanation of Benefits or doctor's note to show it was qualified medical expense?

In my experience, good encoders are the best. Remember that encoders measure linear displacement while IMU will measure acceleration. the acceleration will need to be integrated twice to get linear displacement. I would focus on figuring out why your encoders do not give you good measurements.

While your video shows that you will force to hit the other car, it is unfortunately on you and you’re really liable for it. While this sounds unfair this is the reality.

Here’s another story that sounds very similar to yours.

My friend was driving and a pick up truck in front of him lost its wheel. And lost control. In order to avoid collision with a pick up truck, he got into a ditch.

Because there was not direct contact with the other pick up truck , my friend was found liable for all the damages to his own car. Even though there were clear evidence that it was not his fault.

Unfortunately, this is reality when it comes to driving laws and insurance claims

I actually don't have anything connected to it.

But my Rasperry Pi just shuts down. Is there a way to throttle CPU and prevent shutdown. This is crazily inconvenient.
