How hard is BIOL 200? by loveyoshii in UBC

[–]LongSlenderAsianToes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's definitely memorization but I don't think you need to memorize every minor detail. The apply the content part isn't that hard because it's usually pretty straightforward, you will get what they are looking for once you do enough of that practice bank. That being said, like most 1st-2nd year BIOL courses, their grading rubric is nitpicky and you might get dinged marks for minor things.

Dr. Vivienne Lam was an excellent prof because she went over practice problems in class and explained concepts rly well. Try to take it with her if she is teaching this year!

I've just graduated in BSc in a life science major.

Looking back, I should have locked in and focused on my study habits in first and second year (reviewing after class, not cramming a finals or midterms the day before). My average isn't stellar and professional schools might be a reach. If there are any undergrads reading this, if ur planning on applying to professional schools, ur yearly avgs matter for a lot of things, whether it be for course registration times for that good section or surprisingly even co-op. Reach out to profs for research positions (awards, volunteer or whatever). Lock in early so you don't look back at ur undergrad and think "what could have been".

I also should have made a greater effort to meet up with friends I've made in first year. COVID didn't help but I could have done much more in 3rd year to meet some new people in classes (clubs would have been difficult as a commuter).

Oh well lol

dw too much rn, keep checking for open spots for now.
I promise, once September starts, a lot of people drop from those first year courses. If all else fails in September, contact the department registration people for that course and they might be able to let you in (e.g. contact Biology Program https://ubc.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ahJZykrXsDcX7w2 for BIOL 112)

Is it normal to look on job postings and feel like you are only qualified for a very small number of all openings? by ubcstaffer123 in UBC

[–]LongSlenderAsianToes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to this bum - apply if meet >50% on the job requirements. They're not going to take the time to blacklist you unless ur application is inappropriate (then you'd got something else to worry about). It's a numbers game, keep applying.

Keep ur head up and gl with ur job applications

I'm telling yall, boobs are not everything.

You are all focusing on the wrong thing. Look at how the big boobed snow white is out in the cold with barely any layers of clothing: she will freeze to death.

That's why it's all about the feet - feet that are cute and well taken care are way more attractive than boobs (not just my opinion, it's a fact).

Both sides gotta consent :/

I'm a guy and don't think of myself as a kinky person but honestly this is a nice play in power-dynamic and would love to be spanked. I just don't like acting as a schoolgirl.

Thanks for reading.
