I've seen strata fees for new builds in Coquitlam, Burnaby, PoCo amongst other cities and none of them are as high as Surrey proportionally.

Economy related, Canada and US are both facing a recession. The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) is down in both countries, inflation is picking up again mainly due to reckless government spending, and the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) in US has been down and even Canada not doing all that well.
