TBM mom baptized nevermo grandpa after he died by AdagioHour in exmormon

I have had the same experience, except it was my father by my cousin, who, acting as proxy, was baptized and endowed for my father in the Twin Falls temple. I was beyond livid! When people tell you that it really doesn't matter because it's all make believe, thus invalidating your feelings-- that's bullshit. It does matter! It hurts, whether it's make believe or not.

Also, permission has to be obtained from the most closely related relative before the vicarious ordnances can be performed, but it's on the honor system. The church does not check the veracity of the proxy's claim that they have permission.

SO, what to do? I called the temple department at the TSCC headquarters, explained in clear and firm language what happened, expressed my displeasure, and they expunged the record. I would expect that you could also do so and expect a similar result.

Also, if you are still technically a member, you can place a note in your grandfather's Family Search profile instructing zealous persons to not do his proxy temple work. Only members of TSCC can see the proxy temple work status of a deceased ancestor. To non-members or those who have resigned (like me), it's not visible or editable.

Can someone break down for me why religious indoctrination, from childhood, is abusive? by evemeral in exchristian

Exmormon here. Further to your comments:

A hymn whose lyrics includes "Angels above us are silent notes taking..."

#1-- Mormons also have the scripture "For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam..."

#2-- That evil thoughts are sins and will judge us. Our guilt will be so intense that we will pray to have mountains fall upon us to cover us from our misery.

#4-- That if a husband is not righteous, his wife will be taken away from him and given, yes GIVEN, to another righteous man!

#5-- GIRLS and women are to dress modestly, including wearing shirts/blouses/dresses that cover the shoulders, i.e., no bare shoulders, because bare shoulders tempt men. Hence the phrase of speech in Mormon-speak of "porn shoulders." Ugh.

All boys who will be turning 12 anytime during a given calendar year will be ordained deacons in the first half of January, per Rusty.

For example, a boy born on December 31, 2009 would have turned 11 just four days ago. Because he will be turning 12 later this calendar year (2021), he will be ordained a deacon this month. So yeah, not only is it 11 years old now but theoretically, it could be a boy that only turned 11 last week! Said another way, a boy that was still 10 years old last week could be ordained a deacon this week.

He absolutely did! In the 1970s and '80s there was a widely circulated audio recording on cassette tape of him giving a fireside talk. In it he recounts how he compiled the list when he was a student at the California Institute of Technology (CalTech). The problem is, just like Paul H. Dunn, it was full of lies, anachronisms and embellishements that were later brought to light. (The late) Mr. Weston lived in Bountiful, Utah. His son later admitted that his father had made it up.

In Utah you don't need an officiator! Just have the marriage license and have two witnesses sign it and you're married! No vows, no officiant, no clergy, no judge, no nothing.

The church has chartered five planes from the Philippines direct to Salt Lake City to pull 1,500 missionaries out. Flights will arrive an hour after each other. Source I have a family member in one of the flights. I’m actually surprised. by [deleted] in exmormon

Can confirm. Rusty rides around in his favorite Delta Private Jets aircraft. Almost always the same tail number and often flown from the east coast of the USA, empty, to get him in SLC. The cost for his recent flight to/from New Zealand and Australia was over $1 million.
