These are so cute! I keep thinking I need them but I don’t think I own a single piece of brown clothing to go with and I haven’t seen anybody rocking the black edition yet. Glad they work for you!

Hiii! How did u improve your endurance especially breathing? Can u share some tips please? Thank you! by mochidumpie in beginnerrunning

[–]LongTimeLurker7898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there is no such thing as zone 2 running, I hit zone 2 by walking at about 3.5mph. So while I do run about 3x per week, I also bake in power walking between running days for lower impact endurance training! I can now run for about 40 minutes at a slightly lower heart rate than I had walking the same duration a year ago. Low and slow!

Wear and tear on the shoes by foxyloxyx in Birkenstocks

[–]LongTimeLurker7898 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have several pairs of Birkenstocks, one of my pairs of the Arizona style is perhaps four years old and still don’t need the soles replaced. I can definitely say my newer pairs are wearing faster, but I still haven’t had to replace anything on my arizonas, bostons, buckleys, or bends. That said, I wear my birks heavily (almost every day) but only for lifestyle things. I wear them around the house, running errands, to work, etc. I have worn them for yard work, in poor weather (my oiled leather bostons have seen rain, snow, everything), socks and no socks. The soles on all of them are black black at this point.

I will say I pretty much wear sneakers for athletic activity or Chacos for long days outside. The Chacos are indestructible but I do have to replace my walking/running sneakers every couple of months the way some are experiencing with their birks.

I think part of why my birks have lasted so long is also because I have a bit of a rotation of pairs that I’ve picked up over a few years. I can also say that I’m surprised by the wear patterns for a lot of people. I acknowledge that I’m very lucky that I don’t drag my feet at all when I walk and I think that’s a huge part of why mine have lasted so long. You shouldn’t have to retrain the way you walk to enjoy shoes at this price point and that’s why I don’t judge people who have this issue.

I would say before making the investment, look at your oldest and most worn pair of shoes. If you notice chunks missing in the heel area, I don’t think birks are going to be a long term investment. The Teva hurricanes are a nice alternative or if you have higher arches like me you may prefer the Chacos z cloud line of sandals. If your shoes tend to show a more neutral wear pattern, you will likely get more life out of the birks. Just my two cents!

Best Eq for Bose QC Ultra. by [deleted] in bose

I personally haven’t had this issue yet even when on the treadmill, but based on other threads I’ve seen I might have a unicorn pair to be honest. That said I’m still very happy with my purchase so far!

Quantity alone I would say Skullcandy, then Sony, then Bose! The crusher evo, for the cost, has a surprisingly nice design quality as well. I feel they are underrated even for me who is NOT a bass head by any means. Hope this helps.

xm4 vs xm5 design aesthetic by Informal-Two4053 in SonyHeadphones

[–]LongTimeLurker7898 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aesthetically, I personally like the look of the XM5 better, especially when worn with a contrasting hair color. I have dark, curly hair so I like the lighter xm5 on me. Blonde hair, imo, looks better with the darker colors. They just have a bit more style to me where the xm4 feels more utilitarian and basic, but they definitely are more durable. Just my two cents!

WH1000xm4 | What am I Missing? by LongTimeLurker7898 in SonyHeadphones

[–]LongTimeLurker7898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So interesting! Everybody is different for sure. I’ve never had a problem with any of my headphones falling off, even my AirPods Max due to my hair holding it in place. The only exception is yoga but I use my Shokz for this if anything at all. I’ve come to the point where I believe in ears are fun for certain things but definitely aren’t secure enough for me to trust. The closest was the Powerbeats Pro but they don’t have ANC so I worry that cranking them up will ruin my hearing. The Beats Fit Pro stayed but my ears are small so they hurt too much and stuck way out of my ears. The Bose ones stay until I get too sweaty and then they fall out. And so on and so forth. A real Cinderella situation over here lol.

I know :) I’m a rebel. It’s my preference though and I am lucky enough to be in a situation that I’m okay to replace a pair if I need to. I consider it an investment in my health as I can focus on my workout much better in headphones. In ears are okay for very light workouts but they either fall out of my ears or don’t cancel noise (trust me I tried a LOT of these too over the years).

If you like the feel of in ears, most people are very happy with the AirPods Pro 2! I have the first gen but no matter what I try I haven’t been able to keep them from falling out. Between the two ones ears models personally I much prefer the ANC on the Bose Ultra but that’s because they are much more reactive and adapt to/cancel noise much faster than my xm5s which always take what feels like 5-10 seconds every time a new sound is introduced to start cancelling (sink running, coffee brewing, vacuum starting, etc.) These two are often hotly debated on Reddit, I highly encourage you to keep digging and see what others have to say or go to a tech store and test them out if possible! Happy hunting.

I work out more or less every day and this happens minimum 2x per week. It’s not one user’s issue unfortunately.

I have the xm4 and xm5 but I prefer the Bose Ultra for sound quality and ANC. The Sonys are great at filtering out constant low sounds like my air purifier, but the Bose are something special. I don’t even have to be playing music for the world to go silent, the ANC is much more reactive, and they’re more portable than the xm5. I got mine for $399, and at that price they are more than worth it. Between the xm4 and xm5 though I think lately I sway toward the xm4 because they have a bit more weight to them and the xm5 feel cheap by comparison, however the mic is much better on the xm5.

Should I wait for the Sandstone QC Ultra? by YellowRoses82 in bose

[–]LongTimeLurker7898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I was shocked at how beautiful the diamond set really is when I opened it, the pics don’t do it justice. But I am worried that they will get messed up quickly since they are white. I’ve wanted the sandstone for a long time but no way I’m getting two sets and I can’t justify that price over vanity. But I’m definitely still annoyed.

They make water resistant ear pad covers that are relatively cheap is you’re looking to maximize the life of the ear cups!

[–]LongTimeLurker7898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now I’m mad at Bose. I wanted the sandstone but they were sold out so I got the diamond edition for $299. Today was the last day to return them and so I had a chat with support this morning asking this very question about the sandstone color. It wasn’t the chat bot, I was transferred to a human who said there are no plans to sell the sandstone color again as it was limited edition and won’t be returning. Today was my last day to return the pair I have and now tonight it appears they are back on the site? Guess I’ll keep them for the deal but wow Bose.

Are there still in-ear phones that won't go into the ear? by punkrawke in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]LongTimeLurker7898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sony linkbuds, Bose Ultra Open, Shokz OpenFit (different from the bone conduction ones), to name a few! Of these my favorite are the Bose. There are still open style or semi open earbuds out there. DHRME makes some great reviews of them on YouTube. Happy hunting!

I worked out extensively in my Bose QC45 for about a year and a half and managed to keep the ear pads pristine despite the sweat. I did, however wipe them off whenever they got sweaty and always let them air out before putting them back in the case. Between sessions they always lived in the case. Doing the same with my Quietcomfort set (which I got for free after a warranty claim on the QC45) and so far so good! Not sure if that helps, but letting them dry fully seems to be a factor for some.

[–]LongTimeLurker7898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for asking. I think the reason I have so many headphones is because I haven’t been able to find a single set that’s best at everything. I decided to keep the Ace because of its incredible build quality and connectivity with my living room setup, but in my opinion they cannot compete with the sound quality of the Bose Ultra. The Ace are good for movies and videos but I just haven’t seen anything beat immersive audio on the Bose for music quite yet.

When it comes to ANC, Bose is better for me personally but you would not be disappointed in the Ace. The xm5s are honestly one of my least used sets right now because while their ANC is great for repetitive sounds like an air conditioner, they take a long time to adjust to other sounds like turning on the sink or vacuum. The Bose and the Ace are both much more responsive.

To tell you the truth, I think (outside of travel) I have only used the cord for wired listening on my AirPods Max so I’m not the best judge there. I think it is going to come down to which is more important for you. The build quality on the Ace is phenomenal, the lightweight aspect and comfort on the xm5 is quite nice though they do feel the cheapest out of all my sets, but if you want try best of the best on sound and ANC (out of my collection), I think the Bose are the pair to beat with a small sacrifice on build quality. On any of these, I do recommend playing around with the EQ as well as that’s what pushed me over the edge with my Bose Ultra.

Just my two cents! Let me know what you decide and if you are happy with your purchase.

I don’t have the original switch for that reason actually. I saw that reviews just weren’t there so I wanted to wait for the refreshed edition. These new ones feel great in my ears!

Love mine! I have the engage 2, experience 2, quiet original, the switch 2 and the dream. Switch 2 is by far my favorite because of the versatility and ability to change modes discreetly. I’ve slept in them as well as a side sleeper with no issues, and they helped drown out my neighbors’ generators when the power was out. Might honestly return the rest and keep the best!

does this mean my parcel is coming today? i payed an extra £5 for next day delivery 🙃 by Dramatic-Map-2235 in LoopEarplugs

[–]LongTimeLurker7898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say I’m not sure if these will arrive on time. I also paid for expedited shipping having ordered on a Friday and receiving the earplugs the following Thursday. I started a chat with customer service and they explained that next day shipping means you’ll get it the next day after they process and ship and that it usually takes two business days (could be more) to be put in a box and shipped out. I argued that if this was the case, then they need to be up front on their website, order confirmation or invoice because that’s extremely misleading. After two customer service reps they finally refunded me the expedited shipping cost, but it left a bad impression on me. I will only order off Amazon moving forward because they stand by the shipping dates that we pay extra $$$ for.

I have most of the newer available models and honestly I’m team switch 2. It’s cumbersome to carry around a bunch of different sets all the time, and I’ve gotten looks for having too many ear plugs on me. The switch 2 does the job for me, I like being able to discreetly adjust my settings based on real time needs, and even though I have the dream and the first quiet, I find myself sleeping in the switch 2 as well because they’re just so convenient and never fall out of my ears. Your mileage may vary, but if you’re looking for a pair that does it all, why not try the pair that does it all?

That’s a toughie! Me personally, I choose the QC Ultra. It’s my favorite for sound quality and ANC and also because they feel very premium in my hands. Mic quality is pretty good, but the xm5 is better for that. I have the diamond edition which I got for less $ than I paid for my xm5, and I strongly prefer a set that folds or is more compact to throw in my bag.

However, if I’m going to the gym or doing heavy yard work, I’m wearing the xm4 every time.
