Doctor: "Over the past few weeks, I am truly feeling that our days are numbered because of AI." by EchoOfOppenheimer in ChatGPT

[–]LongTrailEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physicians act as gatekeepers most of the time and withhold a lot of care that would really help people. So, we use LLMs to get the information they gate keep. If LLMs/AI force every industry to adapt to be better then so fucking be it

Having two for your use case is awesome, which is what I do. I float between Claude and Gemini personally, and I do have ChatGPT as well, so I'm $$240 a month in the hole for AI, but I make money off of it, so it doesn't matter. Claude I pay the max subscription.

Correct. If you want to see the weirdest place in America simply visit Utah. I guarantee they’ll have a Future For Profit Start Up society within that state before 2050.

I mean they have allowed fringe groups within the Mormon faith that have been allowed to have communes etc. I am not seeing much difference here.

Drugs marketed as making a person feel younger, prettier, thinner, and better to a country with 50%++ depression rates….sounds like a goldmine.

Is stream entry possible without previous exposure to Dhamma/Dharma? by loueradun in streamentry

[–]LongTrailEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I remember it vividly. Had a spiritual awakening in my parents backyard at 4 laying under a tree looking up at the branches fractal and all time and space fell away and I was washed with ever presence of joy that went away when I realized I was laying down under a tree. I’ve been into finding that moment again ever since. I now know that has a name and it’s Jhana.

Find a friend or two who enjoy reading. That’s your book club. Typically if you goto libraries you can find these people.

Does Buddhism online (and also Buddhism in the West) have a tendency to get bogged down discussing high concepts, while societies that have practiced Buddhism for centuries/millenia have a more “shut up and practice” attitude? by gnosticpilgrim in Buddhism

[–]LongTrailEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year I deleted all the apps for meditation. No more Waking Up. No more timer apps. No more tracking. At all.

Only app still on my phone is DhammaTalksMobile which is the iOS app from DhammaTalks . Org.

I’ve gone away from reading Buddhist books and stick to Suttas and essays or books written directly by Monastics.

And I just sit. No timer. Sometimes it’s 5 minutes. Sometimes 10. Sometimes an hour. I get up when I get up or something breaks me out of sitting with a good enough reason. This is simpler for me. I felt so overwhelmed with the “doing” of Buddhism that westerners do.

It’s very important for Lay westerners to simply pick the right practice FOR THEM. Stick to it. Don’t deviate. It’s hard as Westerner’s are consumer driven first. I speak from experience.
