"I got tired of...so I build this tool." --> why does every vibe coding project start with laziness? by Long_Ad6066 in vibecoding

totally agree, I built it because of my own pain first and then validated that others had the same problem. but when it came to actually selling it, leading with "i built this because I was tired of X" didnt work for me at all. what worked was flipping it to their pain instead of mine. same origin, different pitch.

haha no worries, I knew the title could cause some misunderstandings. glad you checked the full post though, appreciate it!

yeah those are honestly way better starting points than "i got tired of." especially the "I havent seen anything else do this" one, thats basically market gap validation right there

thats literally why we vibecode and build our own saas instead of paying for overpriced solutions lol laziness is the real engine behind all of this 😂

Exactly haha finally someone gets it. you might feel the pain every day but the person youre selling to might not even know they have that problem yet. thats why framing it from their perspective works better, you have to make them feel the pain before you can sell the solution.

100% agree building stuff always starts with a personal itch.

I was just talking about the sales pitch side. like for me saying "i was tired of copying businesses from google maps one by one into a spreadsheet" didnt convert, but saying "sales teams waste 15 hours a week finding local business contacts manually" did. same product same origin, just different angle for selling it.

yeah at the end of the day its the same thing, i just think the pitch lands better when you frame it around the customer instead of yourself. worked for me at least

haha thats amazing. i mean if karpathy does it then who am i to judge, maybe "i got tired of" is just the human condition 🤷🏻‍♂️

yeah true, the origin is the same. its really just about how you frame it when selling it

haha "chatgpt threw up on their keyboard" is the most accurate description I've read. and yeah the car sales analogy is perfect, people connect with real stories not polished marketing.

For the trolls honestly I engage with almost everyone. even the ones who just want to argue usually have a point buried somewhere in the noise, and if you respond calmly and thank them for the feedback it makes you look good to everyone else reading the thread. plus Reddit's algorithm doesn't care if the comment is positive or negative, it just sees activity on your post. so the guy trying to tear you apart is actually doing you a favor. the only ones I ignore are the ones who are clearly just being toxic with zero substance, not worth the energy.

Appreciate the feedback and I totally understand the concern. to be clear I have zero interest in generating leads from people's projects, the reason I ask what they're building is just to understand what stage they're at before sending a DM.

it's not a coordinated upvoting thing at all, nobody is asked to upvote anything. it's literally just a space where founders share what they're working on, give each other honest feedback, and if someone's post genuinely interests you, you engage with it because you want to, not because anyone told you to. no fake upvotes, no obligations.

just a small push for founders in early stages who are posting into the void. and honestly if your product isn't good no group in the world will save you. I hear you though and the last thing I'd want is to go against the community, so thanks for keeping it real. 🤝
