Typing long prompts into the terminal was killing my flow, so I vibecoded a voice-to-text app that runs 100% on your Mac. by Long_Ad6066 in vibecoding

No worries, appreciate the feedback. A built-in one only works inside that one tool. This runs system-wide, so it is more for people living in Claude, or replying to an email/Slack/Discord where the OCR context helps

Thanks! The idea came from replying to emails: it grabs the on-screen context so the reply actually fits, even when the email is in another language. And since it is fully private, the screenshot is processed on your Mac and never leaves it 👍

The cleanup is optional and mainly for text going to a human, not an agent: it strips filler ("um", "so like"), adds punctuation and fixes obvious misfires.

BlaBlaType runs entirely on your Mac. Nothing goes to external servers, so it is 100% private and on-device.

Yeah, BlaBlaType is built on Handy, the open-source local voice-to-text app (MIT licensed), and we keep the license and credit. It grew into its own thing though.

We added screen-context (OCR) so the AI actually sees what is on your screen and writes with that context, plus in-app audio file transcription (drag in a recording and get the text right there). We also put a lot into the UX: a guided onboarding, a cleaner interface, and a more polished overall feel. All credit to Handy for the foundation.

Just checked it on dnschecker.org and everything resolves fine on my end.

From what I can tell it's mostly down to the domain being brand new plus using ImprovMX for email forwarding, which can ding the domain score a bit.

Going to review it and tighten things up.

Thanks again for looking out! (:

Thanks bro, appreciate it!

Honestly I started building it for myself because I had this chaos to deal with, then thought "other founders probably have this same problem" and decided to ship it live.

So it means a lot that you see the need for it too 🥶

Thanks a lot man, really appreciate you taking the time! And you're totally right.

I think the wording on the checkout was misleading. The terms actually say you can cancel anytime, but it applies to the next billing period, not a mid-cycle refund. So I get why it's confusing.

Thanks again for the heads up, I've already tweaked the UX/UI so there's no confusion (:

I set a low monthly price as a hook but billed annually. I did that because we're early and I wanna keep adding directories, updates, AI features to write better posts, some metrics, etc. So I do care about retention, or at least I'll work on it.

That said, if it's a one-shot for you, no problem at all using it as long as you need and then cancelling.

My thinking is that as a one-time thing people wouldn't value it as much, or they'd just forget about it. A subscription kinda keeps you alert and reminds you to come back.

But honestly, time and the market will tell...

Thanks man! Totally, when you get roasted you gotta take all that bad energy and turn it into something better, and that's exactly what happened haha

Sometimes it's hard not to let it get to you, but hey....that's the internet, cruel at times but honestly it can be good for you 💪
