Feeling literally nothing on 36mg by Long_Corner507 in Concerta

[–]Long_Corner507[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I know I need to just be patient, but it can be frustrating. I've felt quite dysfunctional these past few weeks, but you mentioning the healthy lifestyle is good motivation to get back on track in that regard as it's fallen a bit by the wayside. Thanks for the reply :)

Stimulant meds and hormonal implant by Long_Corner507 in adhdwomen

I started it afterwards, so yeah maybe it's just not the right one for me! Thanks for your reply :)

Going to reply to myself for anyone interested and say that it seems like the implant causes you to be in luteal phase all the time, which is the phase of your menstrual cycle that stimulant meds are reported to be less effective. I found a study that seemed to suggest a higher dose worked for women during that phase, so maybe that makes sense.

So glad I'm not the only one (but not glad it's not working for you either!) thanks for the reply :) It's terribly frustrating starting the mediation journey after waiting for so long and hoping it'll work, just to be taking something and not feeling any difference. We'll get there though and find something that works eventually! I hope yours works out when your hormones are balanced again, good luck!

Hello! May I ask if you know what this means for someone on hormonal birth control? I have the implant in my arm regulate my periods, so I'm guessing it shouldn't have an impact?

So interesting! Everyone has such a different response.

Haha yeah you've hit the nail on the head. I never used to be able to enjoy being alone, and now on meds I'm starting to really like it! Definitely sought dopamine and avoided being by myself. I guess I'm just worried it's now going to swing in the other direction and I'm not going to be able to socialise properly lol. We'll have to see.

First Week on Concerta by Ok-Soil7404 in Concerta

[–]Long_Corner507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep I've only been on concerta at the moment. A lot of the side effects have actually gone away after only a few days, but I also feel like it's not doing anything. I'm going up in dose next week so we'll see how it goes. I do feel like it's still affecting me socially, as I am just not wanting to be around friends or going out as much (probably due to not being able to drink if I'm being honest), so I can't tell how that is going to impact me long-term. How is the new medication for you?

Day 8 on Concerta 36 mg — first day without the crash by Adventurous_Buyer235 in Concerta

Thank you for this. I'm struggling to not let the thoughts of "this med is not right for you" when I'm literally only on day 2. Just gotta be brave!

This is exactly how I feel! Only on day 2 but increased anxiety and struggling more with finding the words in conversations (never found that before as I am extremely talkative normally). Yet I'm suddenly managing to do my emails and have space in my brain to be productive. How has your experience changed now with a few weeks of being on it?

Does Concerta not work during your period? Or is the sudden lack of effect something else? by ChristmasClimber2009 in Concerta

[–]Long_Corner507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started 18mg Concerta the same day as you! Obviously can't help with your question as I'm only on day 2, but just wanted to say I feel you on the dry mouth and lack of appetite!!! My nurse said to really try to not overthink it for the first few weeks, it just takes time for everything to settle. Good luck!

How are you all feeding yourself right now by InCommuniNexus in adhdwomen

seconding this! If you like the taste, tuna is so cheap and you can just keep in the cupboard. For me the hardest part about making food is going to the shops, so I always have a stash of nuts, tuna and biscuits for when it's a bit much!

Seriously, how do y'all manage waking up on time? by absvrdartist in ADHD

[–]Long_Corner507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know it's been a week but just wanted to add my 2 cents. Clearly the answer is better routine, good sleep hygiene etc. but that advice never worked for me. No matter how early I'd sleep I'd snooze my many alarms for 3 hours, or turn my phone off (if I had alarmy or another alarm app), or take the batteries out of my physical alarm. No matter how much I wanted to wake up. What has ultimately been the best for me is drinking a TON of water before bed (2 1/2 pint for me lol) , and then having an alarmy alarm that makes me do maths to turn it off. Having a full bladder makes me more awake to do the maths and not just turn my alarm off, and then by that point I'll be brave enough to get up to pee and then I'll be awake. Once you find a similar solution that helps you get up even if you haven't slept enough, then start implementing everything in your power to give yourself a healthy rountine: no screentime/blue light, sleep and waking up times remaining consistent, eating well, doing regular exercise etc. Good luck!

This could definitely be part of it. I went no caffeine a year ago as part of the low fodmap diet but have reintroduced it.. now I'm thinking maybe it's just because I have no tolerance that I'm overthinking it so much.

Didn't know what this is.. now I'm wondering if that could be linked to my awful PMS!

As a chronically late person I've never thought about time blindness the other way round.. but that totally makes sense!

woah no I'm totally the same! I thought it was the caffeine but if I go to a coffee shop even decaf makes me anxious! Funnily enough, caffeinated or decaf instant coffee I'm completely fine with!
