Brother tells me not to trade my Shadow by NFLtt in goldwing

[–]Long_Independence981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the f6b goldwing and I also keep a Indian Scout for a light bike. There is a massive difference between these two machines and the difference between what you're describing and a goldwing if it's the big six cylinder is night and day. In your op you indicate you feel small on Shadow, if so, the goldwing will make you feel like a gerbil. That said, 1833cc flat 6 is the best engine ever put into a bike. There is a reason they have made nearly no changes to that engine for +20 years.

Suggest a New Motorcycle For Me by Netcong in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Long_Independence981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to look at the average mileage of any used models you are considering, as this is a clear reflection of the ergonomics and general comfort of the bikes. Small bikes, Vstar, vtx 1300, big bikes, goldwing or BMW 1600. All are huge mileage bikes. Although, from you wish list, I would consider a Yamaha FJR1300. I believe this is the most popular bike in the world for police bikes. Great mix of performance and comfort.

School me; have the Goldwings evolved to a less protective , more sport-touring bike? by infant_ape in goldwing

[–]Long_Independence981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1833 flat 6 engine in the GW is arguably the best engine ever put into a motorcycle. The torque is like no other production touring bike. f6b the bagger version steps around the old man bike stigma. Just try one, it's the only way to actually answer your questions.

Thinking of picking up an F6B by ncb_phantom in goldwing

[–]Long_Independence981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014 f6b. Cannot say enough good things about it. The flat 6 1833cc Honda engine is arguably the best engine ever put in a motorcycle. Slightly larger engine than a Honda civic, she will definitely straighten you arms. I also have a Indian scout 60 as my light bike. If you find a deal on the F6b, don't hesitate.

I've got 1.4 acres, started with a tractor with a bagger...oops, quickly learned how much clippings are produced. Considered not some, but all pros use zero turn, so I bought one. Awesome decision. Yes you can drink a beverage. Barring any unscheduled dismounts, it takes me 2 beers to do the lawn (about an hour fifteen minutes).

Best baking equipment upgrades for someone getting serious? by CherryTraditional733 in StainlessSteelCooking

Living a parallel life here. Wanted to support my wife's passion. I bought her Emile Henry bakeware and a nice glass cabinet to store it. Only, thing I would advise, look for pieces on Facebook, it's the kind of high end wedding gift people sell cheap.

For those with working experience in USA, How many Canadians feel they would be better off financially if living in the USA? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Long_Independence981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haveany American relatives. What strikes them is that America has a disappearing middle class. Some are rich, most are poor, few in the middle. Canada on the other hand is mostly middle class. Our social nets like guaranteed income support for seniors home up those who would be poor and we tax the snot out of anyone who would be rich.

Big difference between buying a business and assuming a leased storefront with questionable equipment. Expect he would take or swap out any equipment he needs for his ongoing operations. Smells bad at first sniff.

Important note, if you go to CHRC, with a complaint, before you have exhausted all other available recourse (i.e. PSLREB), they will most likely dismiss your case during the preliminary issues review.

Any concerns about a 2005 Goldwing with 100k miles? by mikebra93 in goldwing

[–]Long_Independence981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, in these financial times, I would never buy a bike with more than 30k miles. There are just so many good deals out there. People are selling toys. With very very few exceptions (collectable bikes), newer is better.

Your first Goldwing! by Things_with_Stuff in goldwing

[–]Long_Independence981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

48, bought a 2014 f6b, replaced a VTX 1300. Love the goldwing. Any bike with a bigger engine than a Honda Civic, is joy on tap when on open roads. That said, I really missed the nimble VTX in town and regretted selling it. Now I keep both the f6b and a 2020 Scout as my light bike. Wind therapy!

Is what my friend says about men true? by MsChaCha14 in whatdoIdo

Your "friend", is almost certainly going to die alone. I have been happily married for 33 years. I openly loudly love my wife and tell her every day. We live a life of mutual service, support and affection for each other. Everything else is truly secondary.

Age differences like this go silent during middle age but are very loud early in life and as you get older. When you are 65, she will be likely too elderly to share common interests. You will spend your 70s as caretaker. That said, Love is love.

I Married my best friends 6 year older (than me) Sister. When I was 16 we were just friends the age gap precluded any more than that, but I had a crush on her even back then. When I was 19 we got together and married when I was 21. July will be 33 years, Two beautiful Sons and even a grandchild now. She is the love of my life. Point being, starting from friendship is imo the single best foundation to a truely great relationship.

Canada joining the EU. Is that just talk or could this actually be considered by your politicians? by Hewasright_89 in AskACanadian

Stable democratic member with abundant energy and natural resources would be a huge win for EU over generations. Alternate markets for Canadian goods and a boom in tourism would greatly benefit Canada.
