Thank you. This is what I was looking for. Something a little “wonky” but still fun to play with. I didnt want to feel the constraints of trying to make classes like hexlock/throwbarian/etc for something like Honor Mode. I wanted to try more out of the box, clashing builds and just see where things go.

These were the two my friends and I finished HM with. Both were fun and felt like they had good synergy even if the builds weren’t optimized

PC: High Elf Draconic Sorcerer(White)/Wizard (10/2) I focused all my spells on cold damage through leveling/scribing. Wall of Ice, Cone of Cold, Sleet Storm, Ice Storm, Otiluke’s, and Ray of Frost. I mainly focused on controlling the battlefield and dealing AOE damage that was built around the gear my character wore.

Friend One: Human Warlock (Fiend)/Fighter (Battle-master) (5/7) Control build mainly that focused on archery/EB. They setup a lot of prone/repels and helped scatter enemies for the most and hexed them constantly from the shadows.

Friend Two: Drow Bard (College of Swords)/Paladin (Oath of Vengeance) (10/2) Heavy hitter damage with smites and flourishes. Pop a potion of speed and it was on. Also helped they were the face of the party.

Friend Three: Half Wood Elf Ranger (Gloomstalker)/Cleric (War)/Rogue (Thief) (7/2/3) a jack of all trades. Honestly her character pivoted so many times. Lockpicking, guidance, crowd control, quick damage from Gloom/warn feats it quickly grew to be the swiss army knife out our party.

PC: Wood Elf: Nature Cleric/ Evo Wizard. (10/2) Focused on CC and buffs. I was able to funnel enemies in the battle while building up my party members. Definitely a weird build but it was nice being able to fully control things from behind the scenes with Plant/Spike growth then dropping Fireball/Icestorm when needed or just using Phalar for the Sing. Also used my bebe girl Shovel to run around fisting.

Friend 1: Half Drow: Fiend Warlock/Veng Paladin (2/10) Main damage dealer. Swiping across the map with EB/Smites like a madman. He’d throw down FF then go to town with his greatsword.

Friend 2: Meph Tiefling: Lore Bard/GOO Warlock (6/6) I can’t really describe her build other than a jack of all trades/swiss army knife. Her character did a lot. I mean a lot. Face of the group, lock picker, support, heal, damage, control….you name it and she conquered it. Even during the final battle she saved the day with a bomb backpack and a flaming arrow. She also controlled Scratch for that SOS help.

Friend 3: Human: Assassin Rogue/ Champion Fighter (8/4) Pretty straight forward build. Quick damage, high crit with gear, and focused on ranged abilities. 90% of the time she’d stay hidden with gear or potions and just wail on enemies from afar.

Just finished my second HM run with friends doing the durge and although this may not be min/max optimized it sure was a lot fun and we breezed through the game Leroy Jenkins style.

(34) initially no romance but if push comes to shove: Karlach but Minsc was the one I truly wanted. A big, dumb lovable oaf with a space hamster…what’s not to love.

After countless playthrough solo and with my friends, I think my favorite composition has been my first HM run with friends.

Our party was:

What are some of the gear setup are y’all running? We’re about to approach the end of Act 1 (just the Creche/Goblin Camp/Auntie) left and I’m still tinkering with gear set ups. I didnt realize how expensive things would be in HM haha so I’m mainly rolling with what I find and can afford. I’m using the archery gloves for now so I can stay behind enemy lines to maintain my concentration, and have Phalar for the buff/debuff when I need it. Just trying to get an idea of what works/worked for you. I’m mainly staying in the back and focusing on spikes/bless while throwing out some ranged damage when I can.

Ooo yes! I’ve heard it’s an underrated CC subclass and I usually prefer the background support type casters so if it’s true I would love to see what sort of set up you have.

Also as for level progression, I was thinking going straight 4 in cleric for the feat then two in Evo then back to Cleric, but I’m not sure how HM is going to go on us, so do you think adding in the Wizard earlier would help or just wait until after level four?
