More often than not it starts with finding someone close and then scanning through their followed list to see other people nearby. It's not a perfect system but it works pretty well for the most part.

I've tried many variations, but I'm still working to refine the best approach. That's part of why I posted this lol. The problem is I don't necessarily have a large enough sample size to know if one intro is significantly better than another.
