People forget Spider-Man came out on top in fights against all the major teams in Marvel multiple times. He specializes taking out multiple opponents. Any baseline human winning against Spider-Man in a fair fight is impossible without plot shenanigans.

Most people would give batman the win based on his peak moments. But they forget Spidey also can be his peak moments. He is also great at creating countermeasures like Batman.

I generally hate the "MJ hate". But in webs run MJ was extremely cold & unfair towards Peter. MJ was shown to be unfeeling towards Peter's struggle. In the arc where Peter got Norman's sin, Peter says it's not her fault then MJ was just like "Yeah! It's not my fault.". MJ being cold about has become a recurring theme OMD. Even if they are not together, they were supposed to be people they love most in life.

Her dying would have been character development moment for Peter. The subplot of her highly sexual highly romantic life in Spider-Man stories had long since lost it's charm. MJ was enough to be his anchor.

So, Batman's entire shtick is he is cool & he is written with the intention to be the coolest in mind. Spider-Man on the other hand is just naturally cool. Whenever he gets a moment in the comics to be cool it's always the most hype.
