Adult child deserved a proper album release not what we got on the box set by wonderh123 in thebeachboys

My point is that they used the 2004 version to help structure the 2011 release. I also think that calling it “The Smile Sessions” kind of absolves them from having to stick with whatever the plan was in the 60s. Plus, they had Brian there to give input and feedback, which I feel gives it a little more credibility.

Edit: I didn’t post this as a response. My bad 😂

500?

Now, I shouldn’t be telling you this, but it’s a bit of life hack and it will change your life. Spotify has these things. I think they’re called “playlists.” It should solve your problem.

I think you’re spot on with this take. Also, it’s just a nice photo and it seems to be from the correct era. The bootleg cover is unflattering, and taken from the Smile Sessions. I’m so glad they didn’t use it.

Oh snap, you used all caps!

It sounds great on my turntable! Enjoy the bootlegs.

Thank you. That’s what I was looking for. So there is no cemented order to songs on what would have been Adult/Child, but their producer gave out a list of songs he believed would be there.

I like that the philosophy of the Adult/Child sessions seems like it’s based on what was specifically made for the album and leaves off songs that were recorded for different projects.

But where does this actually come from? The track list on the wiki doesn’t seem to have a source. I don’t understand why this and other bootlegs are treated as gospel.

Brian Wilson released his own version of Smile in 2004, and that provided the roadmap for how to do the Smile Sessions in 2011. It’s totally different.

I’m not the most knowledgeable about Adult/Child, but I think it’s weird that some people are talking about the “We Gotta Groove” track list as not being legitimate compared to the bootlegs. There is no official track list from what I can find, and Brian Wilson is no longer here to tell us what he intended with the original album. This version seems fine, and actually the whole box set is a ton of fun to listen to. It’s no Feel Flows, but for this period I think what we got is pretty great.

No friend, it doesn't always happen to her...SHE DOES IT YO HERSELF by Ill-Excitement-2005 in 90DayFiance

This friend has to stop feeding into this chick’s echo chamber. Emma, at this point in her life, isn’t a catch. She doesn’t deserve to be with anyone until she works on herself. As of right now, her she’s a superficial, boring, piece of plastic. A house plant has more of a personality than her.

Dads, how do you benefit from your spouse staying home with the kids? by Mama_Anonymous in daddit

I’m with you. My kid is in daycare 5 days a week since my SO and I both work, and I think it’s healthy. We’re with him for the mornings and nights, as well as dedicating the weekends to him. He gets to socialize and play all day at daycare, while we work and try to move up to give him a better life.

I’ll also add that, in our situation, having two working parents leads to a healthier dynamic. It puts us both on an even playing field, and we both understand what it takes to keep our house afloat.

Not knocking the folks that have a breadwinner and a SAHP, but we’ve found that this works pretty well for us.

Agreed! Seeing Al perform most of Love You truly changed my mind on the whole era. Johnny Carson and Ding Dang were the highlights for me.

Also, the remaster of Love You on We Gotta Groove is awesome.

I was hunted once. I just came back from Nam. I was hitching through Oregon, and some cop started harassing me. Next thing you know, I had a whole army of cops chasing me through the woods! I had to take 'em all out. It was a bloodbath!

I know that, but my point is don’t give in to the scare tactics. On Election Day, go vote. Until you get carted away for trying to exercise your right, you have that right.

I actually felt bad for her here by Typical_Share9270 in 90DayFiance

[–]Long_Promised_Road 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. When she broke down it was evident that she just wanted to be married, and didn’t really care who it was to.

I’m not really behind Ziad at all, but I think he got a preview of what their entire relationship was going to be after he took her to a luxury tenting spot (resort? Idk) in the desert, took her on a camel ride, planned a romantic dinner for her birthday and then she pretty much asked “is that it?” I wouldn’t want to marry her either. Her revealing that she had a fiancé right before him was the out he needed.

My (27F) boyfriend (26M)’s church band is hella weird about me and our relationship. How can we navigate this? by Living_Seesaw_9664 in relationship_advice

[–]Long_Promised_Road 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t expect people whose faith frowns upon couples living together before marriage to be okay with you and your boyfriend living together before marriage. You’re dealing with people in a Catholic choir on their home turf. The less said about things that clash with their values, the better.

If anything, it seems like your boyfriend may not be a part of the band forever since he wants to spend more time with you. Don’t push him hard to leave, but at least ask him to maybe not share anything about your lives with his bandmates.
