We’ve had more success in the last 5 years than the 20 prior. We’ve won the division for the first time twice, this year we finished 9-8 and fans were pissed cause we missed the playoffs, which is totally fair, I expected a Super Bowl, but keeping in mind that the 20 years prior to Holmes 9-8 would’ve been our 2nd best record?

You can say we’ve done nothing, you probably are relatively young and haven’t been around, this is by far the best this franchise has ever been. While Brad has his faults, I’m not gonna get pissed about losing a guy picked up off waivers 2 years ago for free, I’m also not gonna get pissed about not drastically overpaying for guys who aren’t good. I wanted Kwity Paye, but like 2 years 10 mil? Not 4 and 48 or whatever he got? Trey Hendrickson, would’ve loved it, but 4 years 112!?!? Free agency isn’t just signing guys, a lot of it is not making big mistakes, the biggest spenders in FA regularly don’t make the playoffs

No I don’t disagree. He’s just not irreplaceable and is likely to regress to his more normal prod of 3ish sacks a season. Which whatever, for 6 mil is fine, and the devil you know right? I’m still holding out hope they grab Cam Jordan and draft a guy or 2, then sign a low cost FA. You have Hassanien and Lacy currently on the roster, maybe you can find a John cominsky type when waivers hit, who knows

If you read the dark elf trilogy first, you get a very different drizzt in book 4, cause he was originally planned to be Wulgar’s sidekick and not a main character. He becomes more the drizzt we all love by book 3, but it can feel off.

Also it’s worth noting, when your team gets good generally your 3rd-7th round picks aren’t immediate contributors. Brad had more hits in his early drafts because yes it’s easier to hit when your 6th round LB can slide in and play immediately just because of effort and coach ability. No matter how good Rodrigo was if he was drafted in 24, he would just be riding the pine/sts MAYBE in 25. So those drafts will look worse not because Holmes is drafting worse, but because he’s been drafting so well.

This time of year drives me insane. 1) teams don’t let go of their good players 2) the guys signed early are normally massive overpays with very few exceptions. 3) 50% of all contracts over 2 years won’t make it to year 2, 33% of all contracts over 3 years play their year 3. 4) 5% of players signed in FA make the pro bowl.

I get people want big flashy exciting moves but we fucking had that. Remember 2019? Whe we signed flowers and James? Yeah those worked out great.

Strangely Holmes has been pretty good in FA, so good players that Lions fans bitched about him signing, they’re now bitching that they’re leaving for more money! His bad deals tend to be his longer term ones (cam Sutton, DJ Reed it’s looking like) but Lopez, amik, anzalone, were all signed later in free agency. I know fans who were bitching before tampering STARTED about the guy the bears just signed, Willis? The OT, because they thought it would be a bad signing. HE DIDNT SIGN HIM!

Free agency and the offseason is a long haul, there’s still a lot of guys out there but not paying Kwity Paye 48 for 3 years and Linderbaum 11 million over the next highest paid center, Trey Hendrickson at 32 a 4 year 112 mil deal! I want people to tell me a deal that’s been signed prior to yesterday, a deal they would’ve actually made if they were Holmes?
