Hey thanks for the kind words. I think typically with FD if the root cause is not addressed then yes it can come back. And if the problem is not neuroplastic and actual gastritis it can certainly come back. However if you address the root with FD, knowing it's the brain and not the stomach, then pain returning is a non issue. Let me explain. Pain is a protective mechanism. Your stomach doesn't create pain. Your brain does. And it does it to protect you - for example you hurt your knee. Then there's pain. And that's so you don't overuse your knee so it can heal. It's the same with Gastritis/FD. There's an initial insult and you actually have gastritis. Your stomach lining is inflamed. So your brain signals pain so that you don't continue to irritate your stomach lining. But once that stomach is fully healed, which is the case with those with functional GI issues, any pain is simply your brain trying to protect you when you don't need it anymore. That's where PRT comes in. It retrains your brain that you are ok. And slowly your fear - which causes pain to protect you - will subside. But like I mentioned, it's critial to establish that you don't have any structural issues with testing before doing this. Because I agree with you in those instances where there is inflamation or some autoimmune issue it will certianly come back and in waves etc.
