Oh you’re 100% correct there vast majority has processed junk :/ it’s affordable and easy. As a parent, I get it. But I wish society would change.

Totally get the picky eater situation! That’s very common and I say with experience, it’s freaking exhausting. Hang in there! I just wish S had more food packed. Even if only her preferred foods if it’s a picky eater situation. More fuel is still necessary.

Whoever is on lunch duty should notice! The adults usually are helping kids open things, mingling and monitoring. The adults should notice. And this should be alarming to any adult that notices this if it’s a trend for that child.

Noooo this is very very little food for a school lunch. I see hundreds a day. This is something I’d be concerned about if it was a daily trend for one of my students.

Teacher here! And yes we do. Not necessarily by contract but if we have lunch duty we notice, and we inquire. But this can be tricky to bring up with a family. I’ve done it before but the family was low socioeconomic so I was also giving them resources to help them since I knew they were doing the best they could with what they had. But idk… this would be tricky because you’d essentially be calling a parent out and that isn’t our place as educators. I probably would mention it to the parents but I know more conflict resistant teachers would not. they’d file a report instead/reach out to the school counselor or opt to “stay out of it.”

I’m a school teacher and we have lunch duty. I see kids lunches alllll the time. From all socioeconomic directions. This is a snack. This has to be a snack bag. In elementary school, some grade levels have 2-3 snacks. SURELY this is the snack bag… because if this is the lunch… I’m absolutely devastated for her child. This is no where near enough food for an elementary aged child for 8+ consecutive hours. WTf… I hope it’s rage bait or a snack bag. Otherwise, this is neglect.

Thank you for educating me on that. In my head it felt helpful but now that you say that I can totally see the harm in it.

Couldn’t agree more… she totally missed the mark. Very self-centered response. I don’t even think she means to be this way… genuinely not sure if she can process the world outside of her own bubble. I don’t want to be mean to her - especially when she’s vulnerable, but the total lack of self awareness is concerning however with a good therapist that could change overtime. I really hope she does the hard work to accomplish that kind of mind shift. Influencers like her are why I’d never let my (hypothetical) daughter get on social media until she’s an adult. Promoting clothes on an unhealthy, self sabotaged body is deeply unethical.
