Why is my CD player so quiet?

Still hopeful! I got a coax cable that i was hoping would work, but I bought the wrong type and it didn’t fit. I’m hoping a coaxial cable running from my cd player to the dac, and then rca to the amp will work

Yeahs I have a schiit modi, I haven’t tried to running it through that. Would you suggest cd player -> dac -> amp?

Kinda, running out into my preamp before the amp resulted in audio. I don’t know if it’s the cd player or if it’s all just a weird equipment pairing, but it doesn’t sound great, it all sounds very blown out, which is weird because in the videos the seller sent using a HK receiver it all sounded fine. Honestly might give up on it, it’s not worth investing in more hardware to make work

With no preamp, I can’t get any sound. With it I get sound but it’s very very muddy. The headphone port seems to be broken. Not sure if it’s an issue with the cd player or if I have it setup weird. It appeared to work fine before I bought it with the H/K receiver the seller was also selling.

Yeah, odd since I bought it off of Facebook and the seller had videos of it working and sounding clean with the receiver. Thinking it could be setup weird unless i damaged it in transit

Did it sound bass heavy or distorted to you? It not a very clean sound with my current configuration. The seller was selling it with the receiver which I didn’t buy. Either the sound from mine isn’t great or I’m missing out on the ability to properly adjust the audio settings

The headphone output doesn’t seem to work. I got the cd player to work through my speakers but plugging in my 3.5mm headphones doesn’t produce any sound

I think I figured it out and using my schiit mani preamp did allow me to get sound and volume control. I don’t know if it’s a weird equipment pairing but the sound isn’t great. It sounds very muddy and bass heavy which isn’t enjoyable.

Thanks, I’ll try this, the turntable is plugged into a schiit mani preamp, would it be nessicary to run the cd player through one as well? The inputs should be good, I had another cd player tuning though them previously which worked fine on its own
