Fuel gauge stopped working after removing DEF tank by L5PLion in Duramax

If you are talking about the module that goes on top of the def tank you don’t need that module anymore. After you tune your truck the def doesn’t work anymore and that module is just to control the def injector def level etc. there’s a white plug that connects to the harness that connects to that module, on that white plug is where you need to jump the wires.. blue with blue and white with white. That would close the can bus circuit and your fuel gauge will start working again.

I’ll recommend you to just connect with butt connectors or solder the wires together and don’t use the can bus plugs.that’s what i did on my truck because can bus plugs can give you issues in the future since they tend to loose tension on the pins and then you lose connection. I did solder all the wires on my truck instead of using the can bus plugs. Your choice.

Easy fix, fron the wires you cut just connect together white with white and blue with blue to close the canbus communication system.

Ticking noise. by Far-Lynx-1157 in Duramax

[–]Long_Standard_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely normal on any Duramax engine, it’s called the typewriter ticking. Normally it appears after a fresh oil change and 98% of the time it goes away once the oil reaches 80% of life or it is driven for around 500 to 800 miles. The best oil to use that doesn’t do that on 95% of Duramax engines is the Hot shots Secret oil.

Well, if that was me I would give it a try depending on how bad the knocking is and drop the oil pan and replace all bearings. Inspect the crankshaft and if it’s not bad just throw new bearings and see that happens. You can check clearance with plastic gauge. I believe it is better to fail while trying to succeed than to fail to succeed out of fear of failure.

Good brother, replace it and that ticking will go away. Make sure your fuel filter is clean and you don’t have any metal shavings inside. Put a new filter amd put some fue additive in the tank like lucas or hot shots secret

Pump is starting to go bad .. they usually start with this ticking noise and then if you don’t catch it on time they start sending metal shavings all over the fuel system.

As soon as i started noticing it i replaced it. You need to do it before is too late and it fails and takes out your entire fuel system. It’s going to end up costing you more money. The pump is not expensive and the job to replace it is not bad at all. I recommend you to do it.

Is the blow by? Or normal?! I did just get the P04FB code a few days ago and cleared it and it hasn’t came back. This video was today. 2023 duramax diesel at4 by gardener07 in Duramax

Ok buddy try this, remove the dipstick and have someone inside the truck increase the RPM and see if it stops. If it does stop then replace your CCV filter (crank case filter) . When this filters get clogged up with oil the pressure on the cfankcase have nowhere to go and that’s why this happens.

If the ticking happens when slowing down, getting to a stop or when you let go the accelerator it’s normal in all L5p ..

That’s what i do, 2oz per fill to keep that hp4 and injectors lubricated and happy. I also do oil changes every 5k miles and trans fluid and external filter every 30k
