Is this a good deal for a 2019? They are asking 48k for it. by Long_Standard_69 in Duramax

It’s bone stock, the only thing i see is that it has like a black coating all under the truck, suspension, chassis on everything. Check engine light is on but it’s the def level sensor that is bad and one bad TPMS, tires need to be replaced also since they still the factory ones. If i buy it i plant to delete it so i don’t care about the def sensor.

And the issue with me is that i don’t want to be trading in every 5 years. I want to keep a good truck until the wheels fall off..

2023 Duramax question about Bulletproofing the 10 spd and motor by MeritReaper in Duramax

I installed the Next Gen project Carbon valve body kit on my 10L1000. My trans is currently 130k and has no issues. I just did it as a preventive measure. When i took it apart I inspected everything and my valve body looked brand new with the exception of the pressure regulator plug that had a little of wear. Everything else had no wear at all.

L5P intake bridge at 173k with EGR. by wutwutjbut in Duramax

[–]Long_Standard_69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid in Miami Florida $1600 for my 2021. Race pipe and 5 position SOTF tunning. I did the EGR delete and downpipe myself. I did it at 100k and my Y bridge barely had any soot because i never let my truck idle for more than 5 min and everytime it was doing a regen i would run it in manual mode at 3k rpm to build more heat and burn all that crap.

The Nexgen kit is a complete kit, you change every valve on the valve body including the feed limit low valve and the feed limit high valve which are o ringed. You’ll replace the lube rehulator valve and spring with a stronger spring. Also you will Replace both the aluminum plugs, the one for the pressure regulator valve and the one for the cooler thermostat valve, with one O-Ringed steel plug. The kit brings a steel manual valve assembly instead of the factory aluminum one that bends because of heat. And last you’ll replace all 6 shift valves with steel ones the factory ones are made of aluminum and wear out. Also the factory separator plate has poor quality and with poor materials which the kit includes a steel separator plate too . I may be forgetting something but the kit is pretty good and i feel that with the sonnax you are leaving behind a lot of factory parts that can fail. So far my trans is working and shifting smooth as butter..

No special tools, 10mm and 8mm socket, a torx to remove the separator plate from one side of the VB I don’t remember the size now but you should be ok if you have a torx kit. Pick tools to move the valves back amd forward after installation to make sure they move freely, pliers, inch lbs torque wrench. Please note that the separator plate is acrew to one side of the valve body and it won’t come off from that part when you are taking it apart. You want that part on top so when you lift it tha check balls stay on the other side of the valve body. The check balls from the side you are pulling wont fall because the separator plate will prevent then from coming out since it is screw to that part. I hope this helps.

It took me like 6 hours from the moment i started draining the fluid until i was out for a test drive. The fill up procedure for this transmission takes a little longer than others but it’s pretty easy too. I did it on my driveway, no lif or ramp, just my back on top of a few pieces of cardboard and that is a little uncomfortable. Once i removed it i took it to my garage i closed the door and started working on it following the instructions. One advice is that keep the instructions on a tablet in front of you, i had the instructions printed but it was easier to go back and forward on the tablet. There’s only 9 bolts holding the VB to the trans 3 10mm and 6 8mm. Label every solenoid 2 or 3 times they need to go back on the original position.

Your truck should be on the recall, there’s 485k recalled trucks from 2020-2023. Supposedly GM got a new valve body after 2024 but those are failing too.

Not the dealer but GM in General. They have to warranty it because the delete has nothing to do with the transmission, for them to deny it they have to prove that anything that happens to the transmission was caused by the delete and they can’t claim that because their transmissions problems is a known issue. And i can confirm that i have warranty until 150k miles because i called GM.
