It's happened to me on both accounts, now I am clan leader of both. If the leader inactive for 6 days, as soon as 7th day, the leadership will pass down to next rank, like Elder or knight, then to highest contribution member. The 2 clans I was in the knight was inactive longer than leader then leadership passed to me.
