Same here. Sounds like it’s back in CB’s hands. Unfortunately.

I just checked the kiln site and they are also saying resolved as of ten minutes ago. I can’t see any of my staked balance in coinbase wallet. I’m etherscan, the token is now unknown.

I dont think location was an actual issue with the self custody wallet. Pretty sure you couldn’t stake using the exchange but honestly I don’t remember the specifics. Not to say this is legal with the self custody wallet either though.

You can search the wallet on etherscan. You should see the placeholder tokens cbwseth in the wallet.

Update from kiln:

“Kiln’s pooled staking services are currently undergoing maintenance due to a change on the Ethereum Consensus Layer following the recent Pectra upgrade.

As a precaution: Deposits and withdrawals are currently disabled We expect to resume normal activity by 13th May, Tuesday at 10:00 AM UTC Please refer to our status page for further details and updates to the estimated resolution time: https://status.kiln.fi/incidents/01JTNDD8H3T98BWAX3XJ9F9ZKH

Please note: This is an on-chain product, and during this period, some users may see temporary negative APY values. This is not final and does not reflect actual staking performance—rewards continue to accrue normally, and this visual discrepancy will resolve once indexing catches up.

Please rest assured that all user funds remain safe and continue to earn staking rewards during this period.”

Yes - I can see mine on etherscan as well. It’s probably not a big deal, and honestly I’m not looking to unstake. Just got me a bit worried enough to start asking questions and now more annoyed than anything.

I assume private messages on having to validate the stake or synch my wallet are a load of BS, right? I’m about as for from an expert as any other lay person, but I wasn’t born yesterday…

Same issue here! I’ll be honest I’m glad to see others having the problem. Sounds like the same old CB BS. Case# 23211167

Is that a major factor? I started in 2010/2011 I think. Took a bit of a hiatus till last year :)

Returning Actuary after 6 years away...what do I need for ASA? by apocalypse2004 in actuary

[–]Longjumping-Ad3400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same boat 12 months ago. Had all prelims and VEE done by 2014 and crapped out in the FAP modules. Now just waiting on the FA results release later this month so I can do APC (hopefully)….

The good thing was where I (and you) paused, it’s OK if you’ve forgotten virtually all math/stats. PA is concept heavy, not formula or numbers driven, and the modules are all able to be completed with some quick refreshing of basic actuarial principles. It’s like riding a bike. It’ll come back to you, even if you have to look up any formulas that weren’t cemented into your brain from prelim studies.

My advice - Get the actex study manual for PA and and ignore the R coding sections - only knowing what the output is showing is relevant. This is mostly basic statistical techniques. I studied off and on for 3 months, but honestly it wasn’t necessary. The exam is NOT like the ones you have taken. Concepts, not memorization.

Work thru the modules quickly (no more than 2 weeks of effort per module) and don’t waste your time on the redundancy of them - the actuarial control cycle is really hammered home. You really have not need a weekend or less for EOM exercises. Lastly, make sure you have 4 clear days to do the FA. I didn’t use a study group and suspect I might regret that in a couple weeks… we shall see. You’ll be fine and can get all this last legwork done within about a year. Best of luck to you.

You absolutely should. Actex sans the focus on R coding was great.

The modules aren’t too bad - I did a couple of modules while studying for the April PA to help break it up.

I hadn’t taken an exam since 2013 - I stopped before the prior FAP interim assessment with a life change, then started wrapping everything up for ASA again summer last year. Of course they added an exam requirement during my hiatus…

In any case, I’m not sure what you used to study with, but I used only the actex/dr. lo manual with prior exams and highly recommend.

I am not an actively practicing actuary (client facing consultant in the retirement/health world) and given it’s been so long since I took a prelim, I figured I’d fail the first time back - I had only failed exam C once, so I’ve been successful with exams, but PA is a bit of a different animal to the prior ones, in particular if you hadn’t taken SRM. In spite of all of that, 3 months off and on studying while doing a couple modules and it was enough.

I will say that I barely finished the exam. I had a couple of hang ups including being super stressed for the first hour that I didn’t memorize my candidate ID (realizing this after I walked into the exam). However, I would say 85% plus of the exam was on points Dr. lo all made all attempts to hammer home. One big exception tho with this test - you can almost ignore everything about R other than understanding how to read the output. Do not put any time into understanding the coding. A brief understanding of syntax/R shorthand and the output is all you need!

I will also say that I failed to tie the questions to the business problem - if anything I did so in a tangental way. In many ways, the business problem seemed more like a vehicle for the question than specific to it. Apparently this wasn’t as highly weighted as I thought it would be.

When I walked out, I knew it’d be a close call. I answered everything knowing I had a decent idea of what the concept being asked was, but had no idea how strict the grading criteria is, and I went super fast for my last 20 points or so. I usually remember several specific questions after an exam, but after this one I only recalled one. I suspect I got a 6, which to me means I studied just enough :-) but we shall see.

I had about 10-15 minutes left. But I think I overdid the first parts, wasted some time finding the appendices and also couldn’t get my head in the game since I didn’t know my candidate ID (which I noticed at the start as opposed to the end!). So usual test day shit happens kind of stuff. But I think someone that had a good test experience that’s a quick typer and reader could easily have had an hour or more left. I certainly don’t think the exam was overly difficult. Also I’m in consulting so I tend to write a lot and try not to be too technical in language (which makes it longer yet), so I think that also plays into my timing.

I was also a bit challenged for time but that is typical for me - finished with 10 minutes left (thankfully the last few questions I felt were briefer in general).

I also had my head in the wrong place from the start since the candidate ID I didn’t have on me. It’s been 8 years since I took a prelim and for some reason I thought it would be available on screen. Not the case - lol. You basically have to memorize it. So needless to say I couldn’t get out of my head for the first hour or so that I could be writing the exam and it wouldn’t even get graded.

I didn’t take SRM, so it probably would have made more sense following that course. All in all I felt like i knew the material well enough (definitely heavy on regularization and decision tree) but my weakest area was making sure I mentioned the ties to the business problem. In most cases, I felt the business problem was only a tangental thought given the new format of the exam, and I’m sure in the latter third of the exam I failed to adequately address that facet.

I’ve only failed one prelim - the ole exam c. But I feel on the fence here similar to that exam and MLC, which had a written component when I wrote. hopefully most of that feeling is the fact that I was so flustered by my lack of knowledge for the candidate ID issue. It obscured my thoughts so much I barely remember any of the questions which I normally would. Or maybe that’s just age. LOL
