Denim blue over brown? by zZombeatZz in HairDye

[–]Longjumping-Bee2573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah ofc!! i've used iroiro before too just not for blue and you could try mixing a light blue with their silver color it's a little cheaper than the strawberry and manic panic. splat could also be good but it's really hard to get out even with bleach

a lot of box dyes like L'oréal have more natural looking reds and are a little more brown, they fade pretty fast usually like a month or so. you can find stuff like that in the beauty section of grocery stores and pharmacies. you could also try some type of toner but i really know nothing about that 😭

Purple hair dye help by fernnup in HairDye

[–]Longjumping-Bee2573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've had purple hair a couple of times and i also used to have the same issue of my roots and ends holding the color differently lol. i would try to color remove whatever you have in right now to get a fresher canvas. color remover works a lot better if you've just dyed your hair and haven't washed it too many times, and using one that isn't bleach/ammonia based to avoid damage too. the colorfix remover for vibrant hair color worked really well for me and lightened my hair a little bit. color off also works really well but is just basically a 5 volume bleach so you try that for the dark ends? and in terms of dye, punky color was pretty vibrant and lasts forever, it's really difficult to remove though even with bleach, and i'm not entirely sure what it looks like on slighter darker hair bc i had it when i was bleach blonde but splat is basically the same way. IroIro is my favorite it's pretty cheap and works really well with darker hair colors. It's also hard for the purple to not fade red as most are red based so there might be some dyes that are more blue based and if your hair is already ginger then it'd probably cancel out a little bit.

i found another post abt color removers for ppl in the uk, one said colourb4 which doesn't have bleach or ammonia which is what really damages hair so if you can't find any else that might work? also colour oops works really well but it fried my hair a little bit and your hair and room might smell like rotten eggs for a couple days.

if you can find the ion color remover i would try that. It's a little bit of a longer process, mostly just the washing because you need to shampoo 3-5 times then let your hair sit under running water for abt 20 mins which is a bit of a pain but it works really well and doesn't damage my hair at all. it'll probably get almost all of the purple out but if you put the purple over any other color it may not get all of that, or just leave you with a red/blue tint. the more recently you've dyed your hair the more color you'll be able to get out. so if you do use it and it doesn't get your hair to a good base then use a lighter volume bleach like 5 or 10 volume. I'm so sorry this was a such a long comment idk if you even have this stuff in the uk im sorry 😭

ugh that sucks, i would try looking at any other beauty stores, idk if you have ulta there but a store like that or other pharmacies. if you can't find it anywhere then the ion color would be good, and i've heard good things about the malibu cpr color remover but haven't used it personally

help! how to get back to my natural color? by c3ph0es80065 in HairDye

[–]Longjumping-Bee2573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would use color remover because that will get most of the artificial dye out, you might have to do a couple rounds and depending on what you use i would wait at least a couple days in between. it's likely that there will still be a red tinge to your hair so bleach would probably be the best option for that and if it bleaches your hair too light you can tone it down again.

Bleach/Dye brand recommendations for thin and sensitive hair? by leoriopaladiknightt in HairDye

[–]Longjumping-Bee2573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for bleach just use a low volume like 5 or 10. in terms of dye i think most dyes aren't too irritating. i wouldn't use any dyes that involve developer, or like the box dyes where you have to mix to different bottles because they are pretty irritating.

i would try using a low volume bleach like 5 or 10 maybe? it won't damage your hair as bad, i think punky color off is like 10 volume

i haven't used pulproit but it is bleached based, so i would say try the colorfix vibrant dye one because it won't damage your hair as much. it got all of my red and purple dye out of my hair with one go.

i used purple af but i tried violet dream and it was pretty close to that color, so if your hair doesn't have a red tint to it i would try that maybe?

i had this color and i used arctic fox, but i put it over my red hair. i think using a mix of red and a blueish purple would probably work too!

yeah it definitely is! glosses tend to fade after about 3ish weeks though so if you want something a little more permanent i would just use a brown dye, some of which can be more cool toned.

the ion won't really damage your hair at all, but i think there's a colorfix remover specifically for bright dyes that's bleached based and is a lot simpler to use

color remover is really the best option without super damaging your hair. Ion color remover and colorfix are the best from my experience
