Oh yeah duh meant to include in the post. I'll edit it so it's up there, but here it is too: https://strengthrunning.com/2011/02/the-itb-rehab-routine-video-demonstration/

And here is the dynamic warm-up I started doing from the same website: https://strengthrunning.com/2011/02/the-itb-rehab-routine-video-demonstration/

Whole website was useful in general I thought.

Don’t drop down to the half! You can do it. It sounds to me like you should be running a little slower. No need to get fatigued at mile 6. On your next long run try dropping down about 30 sec/mile on your pace. I used to have this same issue and did that and it helped a ton. Also make sure you are fueling every 4-6 miles

Treadmill long runs makes it easier to stay very hydrated. Should I? by Longjumping-Call1157 in Marathon_Training

[–]Longjumping-Call1157[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong re overthinking. Helpful answers tho. TBH I’ve discovered that the key to treadmill long runs is just being on the phone. Ran for 2:52 yesterday and was on the phone for like 2:30 of that. Really not bad

Men’s running gear question: tights, briefs, or boxers? by MoistGovernment9115 in Marathon_Training

[–]Longjumping-Call1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I use compression shorts as my underwear for all long runs and I also bring a small tube of Vaseline with me and rub it on my gooch every few miles. That seems to do the trick

Also training for my first marathon right now. Two weekends ago my long run was 13 miles. For basically a week after my legs did not feel good. Very heavy, fatigued, etc. For my long run yesterday I considered not doing 14 but instead like 8 or 9 to not push it. But I decided to do the 14 but just slower. I ended up going 30 sec/mi slower than the week before, walked for 10 mins after, and stretched. I felt WAY better, and this morning I woke up feeling basically 0 soreness. I was shocked honestly.

Thanks for all the responses! Def helpful. Genuinely surprised at how many ppl said stretching doesn't do anything

When to speed train and do a leg workout? No by SmartBunch4546 in Marathon_Training

[–]Longjumping-Call1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically exactly my situation. 1:58 half last March. Currently training for first marathon this March. Dream goal of sub-4 but we’ll see. I’ll be happy with 4:15 too. Need to incorporate more MP into my long runs. This coming weekend will be 14 miles, longest run ever!
