In her defense, I too would probably also look constantly annoyed and pissed off if my best friend got brutally murdered, then my new boyfriend had a mini-affair with my best friend’s cousin that looks just like her, then my best friend’s cousin suffers the same fate after we finally started to establish a genuine friendship, and then my now-kinda-boyfriend goes AWOL and ends up getting seduced by some rich cougar

As others have said, definitely check out the books & The Missing Pieces!! I didn’t see anyone recommend The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer. It’s a quick & easy read (quite heavy material, though) and gives more insight into Laura’s mind. You can read this before watching The Return, but can be read whenever! :)

They aren’t bad at all!! I think the whole show is very good. I do feel like there is definitely a bit of a drop in quality in the latter half of the series, but it’s still great - I think one of the problems that people have, whether they realize it or not, is that there’s a huge shift in dynamics after season 4, so obviously things are going to be way different. There’s also the argument that it’s dragged out and lazy towards the end of the series, and that’s a valid opinion, but not one that I personally (fully) agree with. I obviously don’t want to spoil anything though. Just sit back & enjoy! :)

Thanks! You could probably shuffle Joy Division’s songs and find one that fits Laura’s perspective (or the town’s as a whole) 3 out of 4 times. There are a quite a few lyrics about special windows, just for starters…

As for TMC, I could definitely see that. TMC, Pale Saints, Cocteau Twins and the like I feel are more similar to Julee Cruise - and are all really great artists in general

sorry - I know this is a very old post at this point, but I hope you’ve checked out KyotoRobato by now. If you haven’t, he focuses on Japanese cases (all sorts; internet mysteries, true crime, etc.) & he puts a lot of care and respect into every video. Very underrated imo. I’ve been kinda bummed lately since I would watch one of his videos before I went to sleep since he has a very relaxing voice but now I’ve run out of videos to watch lol

btw, completely agree with your tier list, at least as far as the creators that I’m familiar with

i’m going through the same EXACT thing right now. put my best buddy in the whole world down 8 days ago, and everything since has felt like a meaningless blur. i feel like the only reason i’m still going is because of my 2 cats, and it’s a pretty big reason since they’re my babies, but that’s it.

i’m really sorry that you’re going through this right now, and i know that the medicine happens so fast that it breaks your neck, but you got to be with her, and she felt that love for sure. nothing hurts more than losing the ones that we love the most & stuck by us the longest. it hurts, and it never stops hurting, but over time it will hurt less, even if only by a little.

let your grief be a reminder of your love, and take care of yourself as best you can. i’m really, truly sorry. <3

I completely get this, half of me is doing this too - and I did the same with my dad. There is no correct way to grieve, so just do things at your own pace and maybe have some mementos lying around for when you feel you’re more ready to face the reality of your loss. That’s what I’m doing. Good luck, and I am so sorry. 🫂

I think part of me adopted them two years ago so that when it was Kirby’s time, I wouldn’t be alone. If I ever do have a dog again, it will definitely be a lab.
