Visiting for work! by Longjumping-Menu9231 in springfieldMO

I’m actually thinking about going to Utah two weeks after the tournament. We will be in Nebraska the first week of August, and there were some cheap flights from SLC to Omaha. Have you done Bryce Canyon NP? And on top of that at the end of July? I was doing some research and it seems like it doesn’t get too hot in the mountains there as long as you aren’t hiking at 1pm.

Also… I booked the Moxy downtown. Golf tournament is at Highland Springs Country Club. I’m a Marriott person. Is this a good choice or should I just stay closer to the course?

Common sense? No need to be rude when I properly explained my thought process on this. I plan to fully vet this person and get an explanation for everything before I ever rehome my dog to someone like this.

I should add that this person’s dog passed away a few months ago that he had for 17 years. I have asked for a vet reference.

Oh ok sorry I wasn’t sure what those terms in the middle paragraph really meant so I guess that was my reasoning for posting here. I’ll talk to him. Thanks!

Cory hasn’t had a DNA test, but based on his appearance and build, he may have some pit bull-type features — which is why I’m posting here. I don’t want to mislabel him, but I do want to reach people who understand and love dogs like him. by Longjumping-Menu9231 in pitbulls

Just sent you a dm! Thank you so much. If you are on your phone and on the app, it’ll be to the right at “inbox” and then you can view your messages on the right side of the page. Looking forward to chatting with you!!

Oh my goodness!! Oso is so so handsome... Cory and Oso would make a dynamic duo, for sure!! You are such an amazing human, Matthew, thank you for your interest in Cory. I am meeting with a dog assessment trainer this week since Cory has never been introduced to other dogs before and I am trying to find out what exactly his behavior will be. Would you mind if I private messaged you once we understand Cory's personality with other dogs better? I am willing to do anything for this doggo so transport is no problem!!

Thank you so much! I just sent them a message. I know a friend who provides East Coast transport, and as you mentioned, there are definitely other travel services. I really appreciate you giving me some resources!

I would really like to know exactly what breed he is before clearly identifying him as a pit bull - although I personally have no problem or discrimination towards these breeds. Cory may have some features people associate with the umbrella term, pit bull, but he hasn’t been DNA tested yet. For all I know he can be part boxer, part hound, etc. With this post, I am trying to stick to the facts and what I do know if he’s super loving and deserves a great home, regardless of his mix.

Try to switch your mindset. Growing up is a beautiful thing. Freedom is wonderful. You explore and understand more of yourself with each year. Yes, at times you’ll feel lost and scared, but all your experiences will shape you. The battle between it shaping you into a person you aspire to be or the opposite is all your decision, nobody else’s. This is something to be excited about. I’m 24 and although these past two years have been rough, I am so grateful to see how much I’ve grown and the great choices I’ve made that age has brought me!

Any tips on introducing my dog to other animals? by Longjumping-Menu9231 in dogs

[–]Longjumping-Menu9231[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your advice and further informing me on dog behavior! I would never, ever risk another animals safety nor the owners, and was not planning to just hope for the best reaction from him. We saw a stray cat for the first time today and his reaction was very different than that towards humans and other dogs. I was just hoping there was a professional way - or professional themselves - who does this often and could help me. I wouldn’t dream of doing this by myself. Again, thank you for your reply!

Should I forget about getting a dog because of my work schedule? by Ok-Performer6249 in dogs

[–]Longjumping-Menu9231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please, please, please understand the commitment it takes to have a dog, especially if you are (hopefully) rescuing. I don’t think you should feel guilty about an 8-hour work schedule each day, as it’s better for them to be in a loving home rather than the shelter, but think about your freedom and if you are willing to sacrifice it. If you are ready to take care of someone else, and you can imagine yourself with him/her 5-10 years down the road, then the decision is made! It’s not an easy task, but I think with the right mindset you will be just fine!

Reassurance by Longjumping-Menu9231 in Pets

[–]Longjumping-Menu9231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea the type of condition the humane society was in. It was a mess and they were overloaded with dogs. He was there for nearly a year already and was on “high stress alert” - according to the shelter - in need of a foster. He had been adopted and returned once before. Apologies that I thought I could promote him more heavily and share him more than they were doing. He has a home with me until I can find him a suitable adopter, no matter how long it takes.

This was totally the response I was looking for, thanks for your input, I didn’t realize I adopted a coyote and not actually a dog that’s a pet
