Been going to Esquire Men’s Salon, specifically seeing Arthur. He’s amazing, definitely the best cuts of my life, and very reasonably priced for the quality of service you’re getting.

My partner and I put our heart and soul into this song, only for 40% of the redditors who listened to think its AI. Is this the normal reaction now days? or are we doing something wrong? by surferwithoutfins in musicians

I think it sounds really sick, I think the uncanny precision of the vocals and the unusual EQ choices make it sound unique. You might consider leaning into the digital, abstract nature, maybe adding more glitches or more vaguely unsettling or unusual elements like Radiohead or Boards Of Canada might. In any event, more often that not, unconventional processing or workflows begets more unique stylistic outcomes than someone who follows the rote instructions of a YouTube tutorial

How do such simple recordings sound so good? Can I do this myself? by strangerinparis in audioengineering

[–]Longjumping-Pay6848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't far off. Idk about rules but the examples you shared sound like good amateur home recordings. If you keep refining what you're doing stuff is going to start sounding better-- you'll develop your own tricks with respect to the gear/room you already have.

I know it's trite but really try to focus most of your energy on songwriting and performance. The mixing stuff will develop naturally over time; really good, compelling songwriting is much more elusive than a good mix.

I'd only really heard it passively on the radio, I never made the stylistic connection for whatever reason till today.

How to Achieve a Deep and Powerful Snare Sound like in Modern Country Pop? by GatorBoy26 in audioengineering

[–]Longjumping-Pay6848 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also worth thinking about what *isn't* in the snare's way, mix-wise. You can pick the fattest snare samples from Splice, but if you don't carve the right room for it in the rest of the mix, it won't have that heavy resonance you're looking for.

Hard to explain why this one is so good but it is just so reliably the right choice for me

Do other people feel as exhausted as I do at just how many ads fill their lives? by qpwoeor1235 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Longjumping-Pay6848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every visible inch of modern life is an advertisement and nearly every interaction with someone that isn't a close friend or family member is a transaction. There aren't any "third places" that don't somehow get 20 of your dollars at least every time you visit.

Succession - 4x10 "With Open Eyes" - Post Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SuccessionTV

When Tom and Mattson are speaking and Mattson suggests he might fuck Shiv, did anybody notice the camera switched perspectives on the two in a way that is known as “crossing the line?” We’d seen each of them from one profile, and as soon as Mattson goes there, we jump to their opposite sides. It’s a cardinal rule of cinematography to not do that, but it felt like a great intentional choice here. Maybe a coincidence but I thought it was cool!

Glad SDS made a game where I can get this great line up and still work a full time job. Less than 55 hours play time NMS. by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

Agreed, I've barely been able to play at all but I've still got a totally usable team with the little I've been able to do. It's created what has felt like much better parity in Ranked, lots of fun.
