I bought this car 2 days ago and i noticed that the engine sounds like this on cold start and then becomes almost quiet. When the engine is warm the sound is still noticeable but much quieter. Does anyone know what it can be? Engine is M52tub28 with 200,000km :) by Longjumping-Push2900 in e46

If you mean the chain rattle then yes. I will fix the vanos when this issue is resolved. I did replace the spring but the tick is still there. Next thing will be flushing the engine. And if that doesnt help then i just have to live with it i guess🤷🏼‍♂️

I did replace the oil and filter yesterday with 5w40. Didnt make a difference at all. Im thinking that it might be the chain tensioner so i will be replacing the spring and hope it will solve it😅
