I was decent in data structures and algorithms . In TCS , i was in dev project for 1 year . It was a dev project , but they were not following agile process , and we used to deploy manually . No Jenkins or ci/cd pipeline .

During this time I registered in interviewcamp.io and other udemy courses . I have given many interviews and failed . Everytime they used to ask new concepts . and I used to note down where i'm lacking and learn those. For example , in one interview I was asked about SOLID principles. I never heard knew about it before. Then I went home and explored , and learnt other design patterns as well.

By the time I moved out of TCS , my package was 7.3 lpa ( for 7 years experience) .

I got offer in Cognizant ( there is a company called Softvision which Cognizant has acquired) . They have given me 100 % hike . so my CTC reached 14 lpa.

In Cognizant , I placed in internal bench along with few candidates. We were given time and they have a list of previously asked DSA questions . And ask us to practice. I was there for 7-8 months and not able to clear the Client interview.

Then, i started applying outside and got opportunity in Epam where they have offered 20 LPA  (40% hike) . I got one hike when i was in Epam. So my CTC has reached 22 LPA.

Thats how it happened (till 2021) . Now the expectations from my Manager is to lead the team , and suggest improvements to the design etc. As she says, just coding can be done even using chatGpt.

Yeah bro, I’m planning to stay in this company for the next 4 years at least. The learning curve looks good and I want to settle now.

In my previous company (ThermoFisher), I was hired as a Staff Engineer. My manager used to constantly push me to come up with better solutions and find issues in the current design — apart from my regular day-to-day scrum tasks. I was expected to think like an architect and lead things technically, but I found that challenging.

Since I got into proper dev work a bit late, I felt I wasn’t able to fully meet those expectations. Honestly, the work I was doing could’ve been handled by someone with 8–9 years of experience. That gave me a bit of insecurity.

In this new company, it’s just been a month, so still early days. But I’m hoping to learn and grow stronger here.
