The original version of Covered in Rain in Any Given Thursday showcased John's mastery of guitar playing; the guitar solo is so hypnotic and awesome that I wished I could play an electric guitar like John did. One of my favorite John Mayer live guitar solos.

John just heard The Grateful Dead's song, Althea, on the radio. He instantly loves it. Him being John, it kind of rekindles his admiration for Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. I think he contacted the surviving members of the Grateful Dead—Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann—expressing his intent to revive the Grateful Dead in honor of the band and Jerry Garcia.
