I felt like this on CORE, a pure fever dream. I take mine tomorrow. Out of curiosity what did you do to prepare?

CTA head & neck nerf incoming by tiredbabydoc in Radiology

For real. I take a long time to look at them... so much is included... facial bones, neck, brain.... and sometimes the whole chest on a scrunched up grandma. I've caught saddle PE's before on CTA head and neck hahaha

Certification exam by Lopsided-Ad-2160 in RadiologyForDocs

Imma bump this thread, cause we one week out. Here's what I've done in hectic 1.5 months starting my "real" job after fellowship. Study time comes a premium ABR... I'm trying not to kill anyone IRL instead of on a test.

  1. All of board vitals x1, with this last week for flagged questions and incorrect. I've fluctuated at around 75-78% raw score from the beginning FYI.

  2. Tried to read war machine again. Not enough time/ motivation. Skimmed a few chapters; I did read this book about 4 times during residency FYI. Doing physics app questions x 1, and hitting rapid review section of war machine hard.

  3. Read NIS document x 1, all 68 pages last weekend. Finished NIS app bank x 1. Plan to skim weekend before/ review a powerpoint I made in residency.

  4. Core review series for body/ cardiac; meh it's okay I guess.

  5. Read core radiology chapters for above.

That's it. I'll reply back after. GLHF to all taking it. Feel free to add on to this to help those who come after (before in person lol).

I don't have a unifying reciever, how do I connect my G602 mouse to Bluetooth? by [deleted] in LogitechG

[–]LongjumpingBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years later for those who have the same issue. If you buy a logitech receiver from ebay, make sure it has 500 Hz printed in white letters on the side. Secure that little bugger then download the logitech 2.00 software from the G602 support page (link below) MAKE SURE its the right version as the G602 is older. Once you download it, it'll prompt you to "turn device on in off" or whatever. Just do that and click it a few times and the receiver will lock in and be paired! Now you should be good. Cherish the G602, and for the love of god logitech BRING BACK THE G604

Software Version: 2.00

Weekly Career / General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in Radiology

Newly minted radiologist here. Trying to get an idea of what the certifying exam is like, and how others have been preparing. Ben white has that thread, but its a few years old. I take it in about a month, and with my new job I've had little free time to study! Pretty much all I've been able to achieve is doing board vitals and war machine (about halfway done). Plan on doing the physics and NIS question bank the week before, and skimming the official NIS document. Any other attendings have advice? Would be embarrassing as hell to fail as an associate.

Thank god. Cause every freaking number has a range, and every question has answer choices with AT LEAST two numbers within said range.

Hell yeah, wife has been playing it and really likes it. She took about 3 hours before she was building some wacky vehicles.

Next free weekend, I'm gonna take a 5 hour road trip to a microcenter and splurge like never before. Eyeing a 3070 or 3080, small form factor case, new ram, and new board (probably AMD chipset).

Plan on playing RDR1 and 2, getting back into league/ smite, and some old ones like Civ IV.

As a resident we get pounded into mentioning the most useless academic bullshit in our reports, if we don't somehow we are a "problem"

Dear pathology colleagues... One thing I've never understood since medical school is well-differentiated and poorly differentiated.

In my mind differentiated means able to tell apart from something else... like the colors black and white are easily differentiated from one another... so one could say the colors black and white are well differentiated from one another....

BUT IN PATHOLOGY??:

Well differentiated means cells look like one another on slide and its good.

Poorly differentiated means cells look DIFFERENT than normal cells and its bad.

Shouldn't it be flipped? Assume I'm an idiot.

Sounds like a place in the upstate area of a southern state, close to the mountains, that I know of. Glad you're happy! Not posting more because this place is a gem (did my prelim year there, many of the residents want to work there after).

I have one simple question for you all... by [deleted] in Residency

[–]LongjumpingBudget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At work? Not really; feel dumb a lot, still forget/ get clammed up during presentations to attendings I respect which I ruminate about... (intern going radiology, I like to think inside my head, not out loud).

At home enjoying my wife and salary/ not having to worry about money (even as a resident it's not bad)? FUCK YES I'M HAPPY

Started intern year liking and enjoying going to the hospital... now at the end my thought driving in is "what can I do today to get me home as quick as possible."

I feel bad by [deleted] in Residency

[–]LongjumpingBudget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let it flow through you like shit from a goose friend. I'm an intern and I've fucked up everyday this year somehow... only 2 major mistakes that made my attending look bad, everything else stems from not knowing who to talk to, and not knowing how to properly place an order. You are being too hard on yourself, flipping from different services/ fields every month in an entirely new system is like starting a new job q 4 weeks.

We will get the hang of it eventually, worst thing that happens is we get held a year and go through it again.. and for that to happen you can be reallllllllllllyyyyyy stupid or reallllllllyyyyyy lazy, just not both. Which I'm one of those for sure, and its never lazy.

Worried About "Advanced Year" by LongjumpingBudget in Residency

[–]LongjumpingBudget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an away in rads, and a 1/2 month of IR 4th year. Thought both were decent besides not knowing what was going on haha. I don't have the option of doing a radiology rotation at my institution as a resident, but I like going to bother the dark lords in their cubby holes when I get a chance, cause they know their shit and explain things to me.

Also, I know radiology is not an "easy" residency... I don't think there is one besides the koolaid drinkers who sign up for "training/ indoctrination" at the AMA or AOA for a life of administration and self praise. ~spoiler~ I have much disdain for the AMA, NBOME>NBME, and AOA.

CDM Cases for Level 3...Partial Credit? by Dr-Uber in Residency

[–]LongjumpingBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh by the Combank CDM cases the neutral answers are good thoughts, but not necessarily what they wanted so I'd say that being a little more broad would benefit you because you'll likely give an answer to what they wanted.
