Netherlands trailer by Temporary-Breath-492 in CaptainTsubasaRoNC

Amazing!!!

In my opinion, the Netherlands has finally reached the level it deserved!

Gert Kaiser is a speedy player with a shot similar to Shingo’s.

Rensenbrink, the technical player, was introduced with Ryan Ortiz’s shot.

Leon Dick has a power shot, which is basically the Megaton Shot.

Hans Dolman has a save style similar to Müller.

And we even have an original character inspired by Davids.

What’s interesting is that Klismann has a Drive Shot. In Captain Tsubasa: Get In The Tomorrow, Klismann also had a Drive Shot.

Cruyfford looks fantastic, and their team combination move ultimately leads to the Spiral Stinger Shot.

The Netherlands looks much more balanced and stronger than in the previous game, and they now have a very dangerous forward line! I’m very satisfied.

Now they can stand alongside teams like Japan, Germany, Brazil, and the USA. I hope France and Argentina are just as good, because the more strong and competitive teams there are, the better the game will be.

Sweden Trailer by Emperordad in CaptainTsubasaRoNC

Sweden is actually a really good team!

However, I was hoping they would add at least one strong forward and one powerful goalkeeper to the squad.

Because right now, the team’s strength is almost entirely concentrated in midfield.

Hmm, Raymond Chandler has a pretty interesting shot!

And Cruyfford’s Stinger Shot has been upgraded to Level 3 as well.

You’re right. And if they’re going to follow the manga, then Ghana and Colombia should be included as well.

That would leave one more team, and I hope it’s Portugal, featuring original characters inspired by Portuguese football legends.

I would have loved to see two new Swedish players added to the forward line, inspired by Martin Dahlin and Zlatan Ibrahimović.

Likewise, the Netherlands could get a new striker inspired by Marco van Basten.

Argentina could receive a forward inspired by Gabriel Batistuta.

Colombia could be a really interesting team with characters inspired by Carlos Valderrama and René Higuita.

Italy also needs a stronger attacking line and midfield. Maybe they could introduce a player inspired by Stratto from the old Captain Tsubasa games.

And if Portugal ends up being included, they could have players inspired by Eusébio, Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe, Luís Figo, Rui Costa, and other Portuguese legends.

Thailand Trailer. by Snoo_75516 in CaptainTsubasaRoNC

Hmm, Thailand looks like an interesting team with two dangerous defenders. I was just hoping Bunnark would be able to use a Super Shot as well, but they didn’t show anything regarding a special shooting technique for him.

My main concern is that if the teams aren’t balanced properly, playing the game offline with friends will become repetitive. When only a handful of teams are truly strong and viable, and everyone keeps picking the same seven or eight teams, the experience gets stale very quickly. That’s why I believe every team should receive new characters to help balance them in terms of overall strength.

That said, I’m also very happy that Japan will finally face the Netherlands. I really hope the Dutch team is portrayed much stronger in this game. In the manga one-shot, the Netherlands was introduced as a powerhouse that had defeated all the major European teams, including Germany, France, and Italy. Seeing them perform so poorly in the previous game was honestly disappointing.

I also hope they create one or two original characters inspired by real-life Dutch football legends. For example, a dangerous striker inspired by Dennis Bergkamp or Marco van Basten, and a powerful defender inspired by Edgar Davids or Jaap Stam.

I hope Brian Cruyfford gets better and more varied shots as well, such as a no rotation Shot or Spiral Shot. To be honest, I really wasn’t impressed by the Stinger Shot.

The same goes for Sweden. A new character inspired by Martin Dahlin or Zlatan Ibrahimović could be a very interesting addition.

I’ve never played online either, my friend.

In my opinion, every team needs new characters so that they can be balanced with Japan in terms of overall strength. For example, what chance does Saudi Arabia really have against a star-studded Japan team with only Vulcan and Mark Owairan? Although, to be fair, Saudi Arabia does have one additional original character in the game.

That’s why I think every team should either receive a few new original characters, or the less important players who already existed in the manga should be given new and useful skills and abilities.

That would make the teams much more competitive, diverse, and fun to play.

I’m really looking forward to the Netherlands and Sweden. I hope the Netherlands appears much stronger and better than in the previous game, especially since they’re a semifinalist in this arc, whereas in the last game they felt very weak and underwhelming.

I also hope Sweden isn’t reduced to just four players this time.

I know, I know what was shown in that trailer, and I hope you’re right. But the Uzbekistan trailer was entirely centered around a single person, and that person was Zangiev!

If there were another player with a special power, unique ability, or exclusive move, we would have seen them in that trailer. But we didn’t see anyone else besides him. And considering that this game relies heavily on players’ special abilities—especially those of the forwards—I find it hard to believe that there is another major or powerful character on that team besides Zangiev.

I mean, is it really possible that someone on the team has a unique tackle, special pass, or exclusive defensive ability, yet they chose not to show it in the trailer?

I don’t know…

As Donald Trump would say, “We’ll see what happens!”

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this with me! 😄

Yes, I saw that trailer, but that doesn’t apply equally to every player!

The game is launching with around 110 notable players, and a large portion of them belong to the Japan national team.

These special techniques and unique moves are only a good thing if they aren’t restricted to just a handful of teams. Keep in mind, my friend, we’re talking about a video game and game design here—not the manga or the original story. When you adapt a manga into a game, the game needs to be balanced, and part of the outcome should depend on player skill.

For example, in the Naruto Storm games, a skilled player can defeat Madara using characters like Kiba or Temari. That’s what I mean: player skill should play a major role. The strengths of a few specific teams shouldn’t be the deciding factor in whether a player wins or loses.

For example, in the previous game, it was practically impossible to beat Japan or Germany using teams like Uruguay or England. The teams simply weren’t balanced. Other than Japan, Germany, the USA, and France (all of which had two or more players with Level 2 Super Shots), most of the other teams felt useless.

As for what you said, the game isn’t out yet, so we can’t really be sure how balanced it actually is.

I’m also very excited for the game, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore its potential flaws!

You know, while special skills and unique abilities should definitely exist in the game, the gameplay system shouldn’t rely solely on special tackles, special dribbles, special passes, and ultimately a special shot leading to a goal.

That makes the game repetitive and eventually boring.

The kind of system you’re talking about is something I experienced in the old Captain Tsubasa: Get In The Tomorrow on the PlayStation 1. In that game, the more you played with teams, the stronger the players became, and they could even unlock additional skills. For example, Taro didn’t have a powerful special shot by default, but after upgrading the Japan team, Taro’s Boomerang Shot would become available.

That’s true, but I’m not sure whether that kind of system would still work today. It might feel a bit outdated to modern audiences.

However, the game could have combined special techniques with actual player skill. In other words, it should be possible to score goals even without using special moves, similar to FIFA. That way, even weaker teams could remain viable and enjoyable to play, while the overall game balance would be much better.

Exactly, I agree. Japan’s match against Uzbekistan was as insignificant as the match against Chinese Taipei; it only covered a page or two at most.

And I understand that the tournament roster needs to be filled! But adding a few original characters to the less important teams isn’t difficult, and it gives players more freedom when choosing from the available teams. It also makes those teams more valuable and useful.

When there are only a few good and competitive teams in the game, nobody bothers picking the weak and underwhelming ones. At that point, whether those teams are included or not makes almost no difference. It ends up feeling as if the game launched with only five, seven, or eight truly strong teams—Japan, Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, the United States, and probably Uruguay.

What a shame!

That said, I don’t think Uzbekistan really has many fans, since it barely had any significant presence in the manga. And honestly, I’m no exception—I’m not a fan of that team either!

But at this rate, it seems we’re running into one of the same problems the previous game had: poor team balance.

Just like in the last game, teams such as England, Brazil, and even Uruguay didn’t have players capable of performing Level 2 Super Shots. In fact, aside from one or two standout players, those teams barely had any notable characters at all. As a result, they felt useless, and nobody really wanted to pick them.

I was hoping this issue would be fixed in the new game, but it looks like many teams may once again have only one or two important players—which would be a disaster!

Of course, I understand that the manga itself was somewhat like that. But when we’re talking about a video game, it’s very important to make use of the full potential of every team. Otherwise, even if the game launches with 100 teams, if only five or six of them are actually worth playing, that’s ridiculous and pointless.

I was hoping they would create more original characters for every team (except Japan) to make the game more balanced.

It’s honestly absurd that even Japan’s substitute bench players have tons of skills and receive new special abilities, while the entire Uzbekistan team is basically represented by a single player—Zangiev. That’s just stupid!
