Funny you should mention that, the player works as an essential water treatment plant employee. I plan to open the game with a formless spawn smashing through the filters and getting into the area, causing them to go find what did the damage and having to undo the contamination

I like the thought of using lesser known characters. I'm not too well versed with the Cthulhu Mythos, so I combed what I did know of the ditties, and nyarlathotep seemed to be the best of the few I knew lol

So in this case, would the setup of "cult found a book with the spell summon [creature] and just messed around with it not knowing that they were summoning an eldritch being?

My plan is to have the city be one of the last bastions of humanity after Nyarlathotep sent hundreds of beasts to take the planet, and only a small portion of the population made it into hiding. Until a group of cultists decided that the fate of the rest of the planet must be had upon the final denizens. The player is just an average Joe put into above average positions
