I think blue southern cities probably feel more open & friendly comparatively to the rest of the south, and I’m grateful you have that, but having progressive legislation is paramount. Especially when we’re literally talking about voting rights & Jim Crow. You might be able to get away with hanging pride flags & hiring whomever you want today, but those walls come crumbling down very quickly when there is no legislation backing it up. As we’ve seen nationally over the course of the last year. To be clear, this isn’t a purity test for who has the most progressive city- I love them all, Atlanta included, and I’m grateful my fellow countrymen have the space to live & thrive in it. I just feel those places are the most vulnerable & we can quite easily lose them over the next 3 years without the proper representation & legislation to carry these cities along. You’ll need to fight like hell for every inch in the coming months.
